Just after Gamescom's opening performance by Starfield composer Inon Zur, two showcase attendees rushed on stage as Geoff Keighley was speaking. To Keighley's credit, he managed the situation as well as he could, commenting on how sad such an action is, and went right on with the showcase. Security was swift in removing the people, but they did manage to approach and get very close to Keighley.

Obviously, this action was prompted by The Game Awards crasher Matan Even. After Hidetaka Miyazaki's speech and acceptance of Elden Ring's GOTY award, Even grabbed the mic and dedicated the award to his "rabbi" who was "Bill Clinton." Even was also on the stage throughout the speech, somehow sneaking his way through security, and it seems his action has inspired an impersonator.

While details regarding the Gamescom crashers are scarce, one of them did manage to shout "Bill Clinton wants to play GTA 6" before being removed. The young man was also seen wearing an Austin 3:16 shirt. Fans curious about how this turns out should keep their ears to the ground for more information.

However, Even and the Gamescom crasher's actions are going to have unfortunate circumstances. It's a serious safety concern for Keighley, every developer, and every person in attendance if kids think they can just rush the stage. Keighley and his co-workers are no doubt going to have to look into this and tighten security, again perhaps, but at the very least, the showcase seemed to get back on track after the crasher. It turned out fine and well this time, but moving forward, it could result in tighter checks, fewer in-person attendees, and more. A couple of kids should not ruin what is a fun night in gaming.
