With Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live just around the corner, the highly-anticipated action title Black Myth: Wukong is confirmed to be making an appearance. Every year, hundreds of thousands of fans and industry insiders flock to Germany for the trade event, with Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live kicking off the week of festivities with an evening of announcements and world premieres. This year, one of those premieres will include a new look at Black Myth: Wukong.

The first trailer for Black Myth: Wukong took the internet by storm back in 2020 with impressive graphics and epic Soulslike gameplay. Initially intended to attract talent to the small Chinese-based Game Science studio, the trailer went viral and quickly became one of the most anticipated titles out there. Now, Black Myth: Wukong appears to be one of the headliners for the Opening Night Live showcase, giving fans something to look forward to ahead of the show.

Keighley announced on social media that Opening Night Live will feature a new glimpse at Black Myth: Wukong. This will be fans' first look at the upcoming title since Black Myth: Wukong's eight-minute gameplay trailer last year. It's not certain how much of the game fans will get to see, but Keighley promises that it will be a "world premiere" look at the anticipated Soulslike.

While Opening Night Live is an in-person event, it is also streaming worldwide via Gamescom's YouTube channel. There are sure to be other big announcements and premieres, as Keighley has already teased a new look at Alan Wake 2, one of 2023's biggest upcoming horror games. Opening Night Live takes place on Tuesday, August 22, the evening before Gamescom officially kicks off.

While the studio behind Black Myth: Wukong is relatively small, the game has significant hype behind it. It already feels like it could be the surprise hit of next summer and possibly even a game that AAA publishers might want to plan around. The Unreal Engine 5 game certainly looks the part with its epic 4K graphics, and if the studio can match that with gameplay that comes even close to reaching the same level of quality, then it certainly would not be surprising if Black Myth: Wukong went on to become one of next year's best games.

Black Myth: Wukong is scheduled to release in Summer 2024 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
