With so many incredible titles being released in recent years on Steam, most of them typically have achievements in their games. Having Steam achievements is not a requirement, but most titles deciding to include them can benefit players for a wide number of reasons. Serving as a further incentive for characters to complete challenges, Steam achievements can also be shown on the player's profile, displaying the hardest feats and accolades they have completed for all to see.

They also add replayability value, with some games like Dark Souls encouraging new achievements only unlockable on further playthroughs. Regardless, while many games do follow suit and include achievements for their fans, there are some games on Steam that are yet to include them despite their popularity.

8 Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid has an open world full of death and loot, ready for players to explore and fight off droves of undead. Where there are buildings there is loot, so no house should be left unturned in the face of persisting danger.

With so much room for creativity and exploration, it would be fitting to have achievements for certain areas, as well as for reaching certain survival dates, and killing X amount of zombies, as seen with successful games like Dead Rising. While the developers have been focusing all their efforts on the completion of the highly anticipated Build 42, adding achievements at a later date may be coming sooner than fans can expect, and would make for an excellent addition to the game.

7 Fallout 3

Fallout 3 is one of, if not the most iconic of the Fallout games. Being the first 3D rendition of Fallout, the game was way ahead of its time and was a massive leap for many fans due to the new and advanced style of gameplay. Considered by many as one of the greatest games ever made, upon its release in 2008 Fallout 3 had dozens of achievements on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Some of these achievements, such as the Mill Worker achievement, require players to collect all 100 steel ingots in The Pitt DLC, a challenge that also has great rewards.

Fallout 3 has many other tough and fun achievements, none of which are available to players via Steam on PC. As it is an older game, its achievements were made for GFWL and not Steam. With a dedicated community filled with hardcore modders, there is easily enough demand for achievements to be added in the future, which could lead to many fans returning to the game for another playthrough.

6 Lego Star Wars - The Complete Saga

Arguably the best Lego game ever made, there were once dozens of achievements on its earlier console iterations. However, on Steam it hasn't had much luck on the achievement front. For a multimedia phenomenon and paragon of science fiction, the game holds nostalgia and deep adoration for many fans of the Star Wars franchise.

Much like Fallout 3, due to the game being fairly old, achievements don't appear to be coming as far as fans can tell, but that's not to say they won't be added at some point. With dozens of exciting levels and unlockable characters, it is a truly gratifying moment to be able to unlock a popular character after hours of effort.

5 Phasmophobia

Phasmophobia is an extremely creative and immersive horror game, and each scenario will have players trembling as they try to figure out the evidence for which ghost type lurks in each level. With so many ghosts to choose from and discover, it would seem only fitting to eventually have Steam achievements make their way into the game.

The game has a plethora of difficulty options, ranging from the choice of large and small maps to the difficulty slider itself. For a game that can be so utterly terrifying, it would be great to have a ton of achievements to reward the player for getting through tough levels, and for their strong mental fortitude.

4 BattleBit Remastered

With immense popularity from its recent release on Steam, BattleBit Remastered has shown its widespread appeal with the ability to draw in hundreds of thousands of concurrent players. The game's likeness to other majorly popular titles such as Battlefield makes it worthy of greatness in its opening weeks, and the popularity of the game will likely only continue from here on.

With a plethora of different weapons, unlockable attachments, and camouflages, adding in Steam achievements only makes sense. If the game has more time to establish itself further as a dominant, contending title that's here to stay, it's safe to say achievements will be on the way. Thanks to the creativity of playstyle the game encourages, players can wager that there will be some truly unique and enjoyable achievements to grind.

3 RimWorld

Rimworld game

Unforgivingly difficult in its early game or with harder settings, the universe of RimWorld has a tough learning curve. However, once players get to grips with it, the real fun begins. Serving as an experience that can be entirely tailored to suit how players choose to play, the freedom makes flourishing in the world quite rewarding.

While earlier iterations of the game on console had achievements, they are yet to be added on Steam. Although many support the addition of achievements to Steam, many fans speculate that it might not ever happen, as the majority of the current player base heavily adapts their game with dozens of mods.

2 Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Game cover

Considered by many as one of the greatest horror games ever made, Amnesia: The Dark Descent can be frustrating at points due to its sanity meter, which makes the player hallucinate and see visions of monsters when out of direct light.

While the gameplay isn't as enjoyable as some other recent horror titles, its ability to remain so consistently terrifying makes it worthy of high praise. Much like other older titles, the game had achievements on console but not currently on Steam. There has been no clear indication as to achievements ever being added to Steam, but given the fame it holds in the horror gaming genre, it would be only right to add achievements for it.

1 Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege Solis Guide

Being one of the most popular team-based shooters around and with a dedicated esports scene, Rainbow Six Siege is a game that rewards players for meticulous and calculated planning before launching an attack.

Given the scope of the game, there's a lot of potential for unlockable achievements, should they ever make their way over to Steam's client. Unfortunately, much like other Ubisoft titles such as Assassin's Creed, the games typically tend to have their own achievements via UPlay, Ubisoft's game service. It's not impossible, but it seems unlikely that they will ever port achievements across to Steam.
