Capcom's newly added World Tour mode in Street Fighter 6 has multiple traits of both classic and new fighting games. Given its huge staple in the genre of fighting games, standing as possibly the biggest of them all, not many fans would have expected a mode that gives players an open world to explore, meet new and classic characters, and build their own to become the best of the best.

Street Fighter 6 is still largely a competitive fighting game mainly known for tournaments and ranked matches online for players around the world. However, its World Tour mode has managed to reintroduce and reignite an experience that many previous titles had once explored. For players who love this game mode, there are a few other titles worth checking out.

5 Def Jam Vendetta

Def Jam Vendetta Character Selection for Story

The Def Jam games were among the most beloved short-lived gaming series in the fighting genre, back in the generation of the PlayStation 2. The first of the two games was Vendetta, in which players could pick from a set of characters with different physical appearances and statistics that would be important to their fighting capabilities.

This game does not live up to the likes of its sequel or Street Fighter 6's current World Tour mode, with the freedom of character customization and semi-open-world nature. Still, it was a great experience at the time of its release and contained one of the best fighting experiences in gaming.

4 Def Jam Fight For New York

Def Jam FFNY Gameplay

With the sequel to Def Jam Vendetta, EA was able to take the series to a completely different level. With new character customization options in physical appearance, voice customization, and a variety of fighting styles to learn and choose from, Def Jam Fight For New York stands as a classic and beloved title when it comes down to the discussion of fighting games.

This title offers features present such as the options for voices, which are not present in many other titles, specifically Street Fighter 6's World Tour. It goes to show just how great this title was and still is, given the great number of fans who are requesting a remake or a new game. If this is to occur, it would be interesting to see, to say the least, considering the time when it was first released.

3 Jump Force

Jump Force Shounen Characters

Despite its mass collection of negative reviews and reception from fans, Jump Force's similarity to Street Fighter 6's World Tour is evident. Featuring popular anime characters including Luffy, Sanji, Goku, Naruto, and many more, Jump Force is reminiscent of the format that developers at Capcom have used for World Tour. Players' created characters will meet the famous and popular Street Fighter characters throughout the story.

With the great features and variety in content that World Tour offers, it would not be a surprise to see if a new Jump Force-like title would follow in the same footsteps, especially with the rumored Jump Force Ultimax coming soon. Fans would hope to see it receive huge success.

2 Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

Goku in Super Saiyan

Speaking of anime-related titles, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is very much in the same category as Street Fighter 6's World Tour, but has it fleshed out to an even greater extent. Using multiple characters, following the entire story arc of the source material, and containing traversal not present in World Tour, Kakarot provides an experience that leaves fans of the anime wanting more.

Aspects such as leveling up characters appropriately, and utilizing fighting techniques and tactics, are all a major part of this title. It serves as a great example of a fighting game that includes a heavy focus on exploration, story, and RPG elements just as World Tour has done. While one title has multiple modes and contains a great focus on the competitive online side, the other narrows its focus on the complete Dragon Ball Z experience. This appeals to players who are fans of the anime but wish to experience the story through a different medium.

1 One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows

Saitama and Genos

If any title comes close to a direct comparison to Street Fighter 6's World Tour mode, it would be One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows. Whilst the latter may not be the better title, the two games are set in the exact same format. Players meet characters that they would be familiar with from the source material, create their own character, and explore an environment filled with multiple activities that are run through a mobile device.

It appears as though Capcom may have taken inspiration from this title and fine-tuned it to its greatest level of potential. Given that the other main modes available in Street Fighter 6 are already deemed to be incredible among fans, there was no doubting that their performance on this open-world styled mode would amount to its current success. If other fighting games are able to take the stride that Capcom has made on this occasion, there is a potential for greater attention to detail to be made.

Street Fighter 6 is now available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
