Highlights

  • Xbox Game Pass subscribers can look forward to new games inspired by Stardew Valley, such as Spirittea and Coral Island, being added to the lineup on November 13 and 14 respectively.
  • Spirittea combines elements of Stardew Valley and Spirited Away, with players managing a bathhouse and dealing with unruly spirits while making friends with the townsfolk.
  • Coral Island stands out from other Stardew Valley-like games as it combines traditional gameplay with 3D graphics, offering players the opportunity to farm on a tropical island.

Stardew Valley fans with an Xbox Game Pass subscription handy should mark November 13 and November 14 on their calendars, as those days will see the addition of two more games clearly inspired by ConcernedApe's indie mega hit. Stardew Valley is one of the most successful indie games of all time, and so it's no surprise that it has inspired a near-endless line of similar life sim/farming titles.

Some of these Stardew Valley-like games are readily available on Xbox Game Pass, giving those with a subscription the chance to play without paying full price. In fact, Stardew Valley itself is on Xbox Game Pass, so once subscribers have had their fill of the game that started it all, they can expand their horizons to the titles that were inspired by it.

Pitched as Stardew Valley meets Spirited Away, Spirittea has players managing a bathhouse, and like in typical life sim fashion, making friends with the local townsfolk will be a big focus. The twist is that players also have to deal with unruly spirits by completing tasks for them.

Coral Island, meanwhile, will be joining the Xbox Game Pass lineup on November 14. Technically already available to PC Game Pass subscribers through early access, Coral Island's full release on November 14 will see the game launch for Xbox consoles and the cloud as a day one Game Pass game. Coral Island has Very Positive reviews on Steam at the time of this writing, with one of its big selling points being how it combines traditional Stardew Valley-style gameplay with 3D graphics. Stardew Valley and many of the games inspired by it use 2D graphics, which helps Coral Island stand out from the pack

November 2023 is going to be a big month for fans of Stardew Valley-style games in general, even outside the Xbox Game Pass space. On November 28, those on Switch, PS4, and PS5 can look forward to Roots of Pacha, a Stardew Valley-like game with a Stone Age twist. Roots of Pacha released for PC earlier this year and like Coral Island, currently enjoys an impressive "Very Positive" rating on Steam. Time will tell if that success translates to the console space, but regardless, Stardew Valley fans on console should have no shortage of games to play this month.
