It goes without saying that demons are usually enemies. They're supernatural monsters by their very nature, making them convenient adversaries for any video game. However, not all of them are bloodthirsty.

Some demons are peaceful creatures. The gaming realm has many such "monsters" who just want to be left alone. To achieve this goal, they may actually battle the forces of evil, combatting their fellow demons in the process. Not only does this defy expectations, but it creates some powerful allies in the process.

7 Devil May Cry 5

V in Devil May Cry 5

A lot of mystery surrounds the enigmatic V in Devil May Cry 5. Fans eventually learn that he's really the half-demon spawn, Vergil: brother of DMC hero, Dante. To get one up on his smarmy sibling, Vergil separates from his humanity, allowing him to become a full demon.

V is the embodiment of that humanity. As such, he aids the heroes in thwarting his evil counterpart and rejoining him. He prefers not to fight, acknowledging the futility of their brotherly conflict. This likely fuels Vergil's reluctant truce with Dante at the end. One could say he literally found his humanity.

6 Darkstalkers

Morrigan in Darkstalkers

A succubus of the Mekai demon realm, Morrigan was born with immense power. Her heritage makes her next in line for the Aensland family throne, positioning her as a leading figure in the demon world. How ironic, then, that she couldn't care less.

Morrigan was never interested in leadership or any demonic pursuits. She'd rather indulge herself in the human world, juggling various erotic activities to get her kicks. The only time she actively uses her powers is to combat evil, such as Jedah. After all, if demons destroy the Earth, then she'd have to find a new pastime. That's not exactly an altruistic motivation, but at least it means she's on the side of the angels.

5 Soul Calibur

Siegfried in Soul Calibur 6

Siegfried doesn't start as a demon. He's actually a noble knight who becomes possessed by the Soul Edge sword. This causes him to morph into Nightmare: a dark reflection of himself with hellish abilities. Thankfully, Siegfried eventually separates from his evil half.

Upon doing so, he's driven to atone for past sins. He regains his nobility and stands as one of the most heroic characters in theSoul Calibur roster. This culminates in him destroying the Soul Edge, safeguarding the world, and securing his freedom in the process. The only downside is that fans still want to play as Nightmare.

4 Pokemon Sun/Moon

Mimikyu in Pokemon Sun and Moon

Players have seen plenty of Pokemon imitate others, but none have been this creepy. Sun and Moon introduce a creature called Mimikyu. This is a ghostly spirit whose true appearance is unknown since it wears a Pikachu disguise. The natural assumption is that it's a body snatcher or other undead assailant.

On the contrary, Mimikyu sports this getup to make friends. It's lonely. Everyone loves Pikachu due to its cuteness. Donning this disguise may lead to the same acceptance for the little specter. Upon learning this, it's hard not to pity the Pokemon.

3 Divinity: Original Sin 2

Fane in Divinity: Original Sin 2

Fane is among the stranger faces in Divinity in that he has no face. He's a walking, talking skeleton. Fans initially know little about him except that he can shapeshift into other people and has innate magical powers. However, these aspects have ancient origins.

The undead mage is one of the eternals: primordial precursors to Elves, Dwarves, and other fantastical races. Seven of these are worshipped as gods for bringing magic to the world and casting the others into the Void. Fane escaped this fate and now helps save the land from his lost brethren, who've returned as the monstrous Voidwoken. Needless to say, they're not too happy when they see him.

2 The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Batreaux in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

This Zelda title has several demons. Most of them hinder Link, but this one asks for his help. The lonely Batreaux wants to befriend the people of Skyloft. Sadly, they flee in terror at his horrific visage, so he requests Link help him become a human through Gratitude Crystals.

Their magic power works, and Batreaux is now as human as can be. The next time Link sees him, the former demon is killing time in the Bazaar and mingling with the citizens. This somewhat undermines the message about beauty on the inside and not judging a book by its cover, but at least he gets a happy ending.

1 Saints Row: Gat Out Of Hell

Jezebel in Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell

As if Saints Rowcouldn't get any crazier, the fourth entry introduces the Antichrist. Jezebel is the daughter of Satan, who wants his little girl to be the demonic ruler he is and marry the suitor he picked out. It's not surprising that the hellspawn rebels and seeks out the Saints.

Granted, one can only be so peaceful while rolling with Johnny Gat, but it's better than the alternative. Jezebel mainly uses the gang as a road to freedom. She can then find true love on her own. Being the Devil's daughter probably scares people off, but everyone has a soulmate somewhere out there.
