Rather than spend time with his kids, he seeks out war with the Ancient Dragons and willingly erases the history of those who aided his battle once it was won. He cast out his youngest daughter, Filianore, to the Ringed City, and forced his youngest son Gwyndolin to be raised as a girl. His eldest son - who initially inherited Gwyn's throne - tried to ally with the dragons and was stricken from history entirely, so that not even his name remains.
