Recently, George R. R. Martin has posted an update for fans on his "Not A Blog," providing them with an update to his upcoming Game of Thrones book sequels, priorities, and HBO shows.

Recently, Martin posted a blog titled "Random Updates and Bits o' News," expressing the 'enormous amount of work' the author had done in 2021 despite it being a year to forget because of the global pandemic and the loss of his loved ones. Martin then elaborates on the work that has gone into his projects; The Winds of Winter, Fire & Blood Vol.2, the Dunk & Egg novellas, an illustrated, condensed version of Fire and Blood, Who's Who in Westeros. Martin firmly expressed that A Song of Ice and Fire is still his "number one priority, and will remain so until the story is told." However, the author explains that the Game of Thrones universe has become so much more than both The Winds of Winter and A Song of Ice and Fire, so the release of long-awaited titles is taking longer, so that other titles may progress.

On a positive note, Martin turns to update fans on the television side of Game of Thrones. The Game of Thrones successor shows have taken up a large proportion of Martin's focus, as the author wants to keep the stories as canonical as possible. Martin excitedly announced that House of Dragon, starring Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, has finished filming in London and entered post-production. But there is little more Martin can tell fans, despite his eagerness.

Martin also hints to fans that more live-action shows and animated series are in development for HBO and HBO Max, which change the tone set in the previous series, offering more stories in the vast world Westeros. Martin also confirmed that leaked news of the animated show, The Golden Empire, was correct and will be set in Yi Ti. The Nine Voyages, created by Bruno Heller, has recently changed to The Sea Snake due to another series having a number in the title; Ten Thousand Ships, a series following Nymeria.

In present-day developments, Roadmarks for HBO, Dark Winds for AMC, Wild Cards for UCP, Peacock, and Night of the Cooters have been confirmed for completion this month. So in terms of the Game of Thrones universe, Martin has undoubtedly been busy, and fans have so much to look forward to. The line-up for the animated series sounds incredible, and the praise Martin has for the creatives only makes them sound more intriguing. And in case you're wondering, yes, Martin is still working on Winds of Winter, stop asking him.
