Game of Thrones may have concluded nearly four years ago, but its ending still ignites discussion. This time, Jacob Anderson, who played Grey Worm for six seasons on the show, spoke out against the idea that the cast hated the ending.

Game of Thrones ran from 2011 to 2019 for eight seasons and 73 episodes. The show's final season was plagued by complaints that it was rushed. Many claimed the show abandoned its writing ethos in favor of shocking moments that didn't truly fit the plot. Some have even gone so far as to claim that Game of Thrones botched its ending.

In an interview with PopSugar, Anderson, while promoting his television adaptation of Interview With the Vampire, said he was saddened by the reception the Game of Thrones finale received. "I didn't have strong feelings about the finale. I think everybody assumes that we all hated it," he said. "That's not the case at all. I remember when I first got the scripts for that final season, I was like, 'There's something kind of punk about this season. It feels risky.' And I feel like it was kind of fun. I enjoyed it and it was fun to make. It was full on, but it was fun to make."

Anderson went on to bemoan the bad reception to the Game of Thrones ending. "We were filming for 11 months in the snow and there were thousands and thousands of people worked so hard on [the final season]," Anderson continued. "And then for it to just, when it came out for people to just straight up be like, 'You need to remake this. This is terrible. This is the worst thing ever.' It was a little bit sad. But to be honest, I expected people to not like it, even though I liked it. I thought people were going to be annoyed by things."

Other cast members said they did not exactly enjoy the Game of Thrones finale due to their character's fates. Emilia Clarke revealed the ending she wanted for Daenerys Targaryen, saying she wanted to see Daenerys and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) end up together. Clarke has been open about her struggles with the final season. She struggled with her health during the filming of the series, and Daenerys' journey became very important to her.

Maisie Williams also revised her opinion on the Game of Thrones ending. In an appearance on her brother's Twitch stream, Williams, who portrayed Arya Stark for eight seasons, said the show "started really strong," but "it definitely fell off at the end." The untitled Jon Snow sequel might alter the context surrounding the Game of Thrones finale.
