Geoff Keighley has officially announced The Game Awards 2023 nominees for every category that will be featured at the big event. The Game Awards 2023 will take place on Thursday, December 7, and will see the year's biggest games recognized for their accomplishments across a variety of categories.

Millions of gamers will be tuning in to see which games win which awards at The Game Awards 2023, but that's not the only reason to watch the event. As usual, The Game Awards 2023 will be home to huge announcements and world premiere trailers, giving fans a look at the future of the gaming industry as they look back at what has been an incredible year for new video game releases.

The most likely scenario is that either Baldur's Gate 3 or The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will win Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023. They are the two highest-rated new game releases of 2023, earning widespread critical acclaim and being hailed as absolute landmark releases. Both games took the world by storm when they launched earlier this year, and while it's possible the Game of the Year winner will be a surprise, smart money is on Baldur's Gate 3 or Tears of the Kingdom.

It will also be interesting to see which game wins the Most Anticipated award at this year's Game Awards event. The five games nominated in that category are Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Hades 2, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Star Wars Outlaws, and highly-anticipated fighting game Tekken 8. It's entirely possible that one of those games will find themselves nominated for Game of the Year or other awards at next year's iteration of the big event, but that remains to be seen.
