A manga series was also serialized in the Weekly Shonen Magazine and has been running since July 2020. It features a similar premise to most isekai game anime but Shonen demographic.

Sword Art Online by Reki Kawahara is one of the first isekai anime to go mainstream, and it has many similar elements to Shangri-La Frontier, except it has a generally darker theme. The anime follows Kirgaya Kazuto on his adventures through several games for different purposes.
