Frostpunk throws players deep into the harsh winter environment and tasks them with overseeing some tough decisions. While the least of those asks players to choose where they may build Frostpunk's city streets, others require players to decide whether or not to help out any neighboring colonies. That's exactly the case when it comes to the New Manchester event in The Arks.

This Frostpunk event kicks off with players encountering a mysterious stranger visiting the players' city shortly after becoming autonomous. The figure is revealed to be an exhausted man from New Manchester, a neighboring city that is quickly running out of resources. While players certainly have the choice to leave New Manchester to die, the option to solve it is one that can't be accomplished without tremendous effort.

Frostpunk players have a list of tasks to complete in order to fully restore the city, and one of those focuses on sending a Relief Expedition. Unfortunately, Frostpunk doesn't make it clear exactly how players can do that, making it quite the challenge to thoroughly aid the mysterious, dying city.

How to Send Relief Expeditions in Frostpunk

Altogether, players will need to send three relief expeditions to New Manchester. Still, after collecting Frostpunk Coal, Food, and Shelter, the game doesn't notify players that they're able to send Relief Expeditions. To do so, players should use the Beacon as a reference. Clicking on this usually asks players to set up scout teams, but utilizing the left and right arrows allows one to send Relief Expeditions.

Although New Manchester is far from invulnerable, the game is somewhat forgiving. That's to say that as long as players send the Relief Expedition before the time limit expires, it still counts. The downside is that New Manchester doesn't become an ally for players to cooperate with further on in the Frostpunk storyline, although there is merit in aiding them. Not to mention, pro-Frostpunk players will likely enjoy the challenge it brings to the table.

Even without the decision to restore New Manchester to working order, Frostpunk is still a challenging experience. In addition to the lack of tutorials for various features, the game also frequently places Frostpunk fans in situations that question morality. None would blame the choice to leave New Manchester to fend for itself, though the choice to help them against the odds is one that garners the support of the city once all is finally said and done.

Frostpunk is available now for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Mac.
