From Software is a studio that has seen tremendous success in the past decade. One of the most anticipated titles of this year is the studio's own Elden Ring, where it will be refining the Soulslike formula and taking it to an open-world. Elden Ring even has acclaimed fantasy writer George R. R. Martin helping with the game's worldbuilding, which is a major selling point of the game. However, some fans might wonder will be next for the studio after this title is released in February. One possibility is that From Software's next project will be Armored Core 6, a new entry in the franchise in nearly a decade.

The Armored Core franchise is a series of third-person shooters where players take the role of a mercenary piloting a giant robot. The first game in the series was released in 1997 on the original PlayStation, followed by several sequels. There are over 13 mainline games, though these are not interconnected in any way, with each numbered entry signifying a reboot for the franchise. After the polarizing release of Armored Core 5, no new games from the franchise were released, with From Software busy with games like Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3. However, there seems to be some movement to return to the mecha action series, as seen with a recent survey completed by a fan.

Posted by ResetEra member Red Liquorice, they claim that they finished a survey regarding this new Armored Core game, where it contained a text description, screenshots, and gameplay footage. The videos allegedly included a brief showcase of a boss fight and a snow covered environment. They also posted screenshots of the game's description, which features not only familiar third-person shooter gameplay from the originals, but also short-range combat options like a blade and sheild.

Other aspects of the game was revealed such as From Software's director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, will be responsible for the creation of this new Armored Core's sci-fi world. Furthermore, this game's scale is looking to be vast, with emphasis on exploration and challenging enemies in a 3D environment. Not only that, players will be given an array of customization options for their mechas, where they can build it to focus on close-range combat and mobility or long-range firepower.

Back in 2017, From Software addressed rumors regarding the Armored Core franchise, after the last game's polarizing release. Based on the information given, this new Armored Core game seems to taking cues from the studio's past games, where it's shaping up to be a more Soulslike take on franchise. However, this is all speculation and rumors for now, so the information from this survey should be taken with a grain of salt until an official announcement is made.

Armored Core 6 is rumored to be in development.
