Gun Interactive, the team behind Friday the 13th: The Game, has announced fans can expect a number of in-game unlocks ahead of the multiplayer game being delisted. Last month, the developers announced that Friday the 13th: The Game will be removed from sale on December 31, 2023. This is owing to the license agreement expiring, however, the game’s servers are scheduled to remain in place until the following year.Friday the 13th: The Game was originally released in 2017 and is based on the 1980s slasher franchise of the same name. The online 4v1 survival game was developed by Illfonic and sees a group of players teaming up to take on the serial killer, Jason Vorhees, as they look to make it through a night at Camp Crystal Lake. Since the game was released, a bitter lawsuit over who owns the Friday The 13th IP affected Illfonic's planned content roadmap as production across the entire franchise was suspended.RELATED: Dead by Daylight Details Killer Changes and More Coming in Future UpdatesIn a surprise move, which will no doubt delight fans, Gun Interactive announced several in-game benefits to all players. In a Tweet on the official Friday The 13th Game account, the developer confirmed that starting on July 6 gamers will automatically be boosted to level 150, the maximum cap for each player. The team confirmed this was to reduce dependence on database servers.

As well as the level boost, players have access to all of the kills from the base game, along with challenge skulls. Finally, all of Friday The 13th's 30 legendary perks will be unlocked from the start and will no longer feature any debuffs. This means players looking to clean up any remaining trophies or achievements won’t have to undertake a long grind before the servers close for good.

The news of Friday The 13th: The Game shutting down may be a disappointment for players looking for an alternative to Behaviour Interactive's Dead By Daylight, but Gun Interactive is making sure that players get the most out of the game before it is pulled from digital storefronts. The team has already permanently reduced the game to $4.99 across all platforms with accompanying DLC being sold at $.99 each.

Elsewhere, Gun Interactive is focusing efforts on developing the next asymmetrical horror game, this time tackling the iconic Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. Set for release in August and developed by Sumo Digital, players will find themselves trying to escape the infamous Leatherface and his family as they hunt a team of four players.

Friday the 13th: The Game is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
