Developer Gun Media releases fly-through footage of Camp Crystal Lake as it will appear in Friday the 13th: The Game, assuming the game is successfully funded.

What began life as an homage to classic 80s slasher films in the form of Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp, is now a licensed Friday the 13th game, the first one since 1989. The game is looking to receive funding through Kickstarter, and with only eight days to go for the funding period, the developers at Gun Media have released fly-through footage of how the iconic Camp Crystal Lake will be represented.

The footage shows various locales and items that people often associate with summer camps, including cabins, firewood, canoes, tents, and more. It's a very brief look, but what's shown is very detailed, which is made all the more impressive when one considers that the footage was pulled from the pre-alpha stage of Friday the 13th: The Game.

Considering how hugely important the setting is to the Friday the 13th lore and the story of Jason Voorhees, it was paramount that Gun Media do Camp Crystal Lake justice. All things considered, it looks like Gun Media has nailed the essence of Camp Crystal Lake, and fans of the franchise should be able to look forward to an experience that genuinely replicates the tone of the Friday the 13th films.

Movie buffs may try to spot which elements of the infamous body of water were pulled from the movies, but Camp Crystal Lake as it appears in Friday the 13th: The Game doesn't appear to take inspiration from any specific film. As someone that has seen every movie in the series multiple times, nothing stood out as all that familiar, but considering Camp Crystal Lake tends to look vastly different from one film to the next anyway, that comes as no surprise.

In any case, Gun Media's recreation of famed campground looks phenomenal, and fans are understandably excited to see some actual gameplay taking place within it. Of course, for that to happen, the Friday the 13th Kickstarter campaign will need to be successfully funded. As of the time of this writing, over $620,000 of the game's $700,000 funding goal has been raised, and there are eight days left in the campaign. Even if it's not successfully funded, however, there's a slight chance the game could be picked up by a publisher, as we saw happen when the Kickstarter for Allison Road was cancelled.

Friday the 13th: The Game, if successfully funded, will be available in October 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
