Highlights

  • Xbox gamers can claim Tell Me Why for free until the end of June.
  • Tell Me Why being given away for free has become a Pride Month tradition.
  • The game is also currently free on Steam.

Xbox gamers have a limited time to claim Tell Me Why completely free of charge. PC gamers are treated to free games on a more frequent basis than those on Xbox and other console gamers. Whereas PC gamers often get free games with no strings attached, the "free" games on consoles tend to be through subscription services, which means the games technically aren't 100% free.

This is true for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo. PS Plus gives users "free" games every month, while Xbox Game Pass gives subscribers access to a rotating selection of games, none of which can be kept forever without buying them outright. Nintendo, meanwhile, has a subscription service that lets fans play classic Nintendo games on their Switch. With the so-called free games often blocked behind a paywall, it's always a time to celebrate whenever a game is truly given away for free on consoles.

Tell Me Why is Free on Xbox

As it so happens, Xbox gamers aren't the only ones that can claim Tell Me Why for free. Tell Me Why is free on Steam until the end of June as well. Don't Nod has made giving away Tell Me Why for free during Pride Month a tradition of sorts, making the game easily accessible to a wide variety of gamers.

The award-winning Tell Me Why is the first big budget video game to feature a transgender person as one of the main characters. In the game, players take on the role of Tyler Ronan and his twin sister Alyson Ronan. They are called back to their childhood home after the death of their mother and must piece together their past to help solve a mystery in the present-day. Like Life is Strange and other Don't Nod games, Tell Me Why puts a great emphasis on player choice, giving players the tools to influence the direction of the story.

Tell Me Why reviews indicate that those who aren't really into these slower, narrative-driven games may not be all impressed, but again, Life is Strange fans or those who enjoy these types of games will get a lot of value out of it. With Tell Me Why being free on Xbox until the end of June, there's really no reason not to claim it and try the game out for oneself.
