Last week Sony officially confirmed what titles would be included for October's free PlayStation Plus offerings and now, they're finally available to all subscribers. This month, there are two games available for PS4 owners and an additional PS5 game for those who've managed to get their hands on a current-gen console.

The titles included in October's PS Plus offerings are Mortal Kombat X and PGA Tour 2K21 for PS4 subscribers and Hell Let Loose for PS5 owners. All three games are available for download now and can be claimed by all subscribers until early next month. PS4 owners who are hoping to purchase a PS5 and don't want to miss out on Hell Let Loose can still claim the game now and download it once they have their new console.

This month's offerings are a little bit controversial among PlayStation Plus subscribers with many claiming to be unhappy with the picks. In the past, Sony has offered free AAA titles mixed in with some smaller indie darlings, however, fans weren't happy with the free PS Plus games from September which were Hitman 2, Overcooked: All You Can Eat, and Predator: Hunting Grounds, and many are equally disappointed with October's lineup despite the addition of a brand new game, Hell Let Loose.

Some of the dismay for titles included in October's selection comes from the fact that Mortal Kombat X is a six-year-old title that's already available for free to PS5 owners as a part of the PS Plus Collection. What's more, Mortal Kombat 11 succeeded the game is a prime candidate for PS Plus as it's several years old as well at this point.

Hell Let Loose is a brand new title that was released on consoles today and, despite seeming like a promising WWII shooter, its status as a multiplayer-only title has turned off a lot of fans. On top of that, PGA Tour 2K21 is a sports game and doesn't have the mass appeal of other offerings from months past. While there's nothing technically wrong with either three games, fans were expecting something more from the service based on the types of titles that it's offered in earlier months of 2021.

It seems like those looking for more story-driven single-player experiences from PS Plus have been out of luck for the past two months. Hopefully, for those uninterested in the latest selections, the subscription service is able to have a stronger lineup of single-player titles next month.

All PS Plus games for October are available now.
