Sony took a bit longer than usual this month to reveal the next batch of free PS Plus games. However, many would agree that it was worth the wait, as the free PS Plus games for March 2021 include a whopping four games total, including the critically-acclaimed Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which isn't even a year old yet. But while it took some time for Sony to announce the free PS Plus games for March 2021, it has wasted no time giving fans a sneak peek at what they can expect from April's lineup.

During the latest PlayStation State of Play event, Sony announced the first free PS Plus game for April 2021. As it turns out, Oddworld: Soulstorm on PS5 will be available for PS Plus subscribers to claim when it launches on April 6. The latest entry in the popular Oddworld franchise, Oddworld: Soulstorm is described by the developers as a 2.9D cinematic puzzle platformer and a re-imagining of Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus.

Oddworld: Soulstorm was one of the first games revealed for Sony's PlayStation 5 console, which is fitting since the original game is so closely tied to the PlayStation brand. Oddworld: Soulstorm on PS5 will have some unique features that help it stand apart from the other versions of the game, including superior graphics as well as DualSense controller support.

With the PS5, Sony has made somewhat of a habit of announcing free PS Plus games farther in advance. It did so when it announced Bugsnax as the first free PS Plus game for the PS5, and it also did so with Destruction AllStars. Similarly to Oddworld: Soulstorm, PlayStation Plus subscribers knew months in advance that they could expect Destruction AllStars to be one of their free games for February.

The other free PS Plus games for April 2021 are being kept secret for now, and it's unlikely that they will be revealed until the end of April. However, fans can count on at least two PS4 games joining Oddworld: Soulstorm for April, and it's possible that a free PlayStation VR game will be added to the mix as well. Sony has been known to do that occasionally, with the latest example being the free PS Plus games for March 2021 including the PSVR exclusive Farpoint.

For now, PS Plus subscribers can still claim the free PS Plus games for February 2021. They include the previously mentioned Destruction AllStars on PS5, Control: Ultimate Edition, and Concrete Genie.

Oddworld: Soulstorm launches April 6 for PC, PS4, and PS5.
