Across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, there are new free games for users to download each month. In the case of PlayStation and Xbox, these "free" games really come in the form of bonuses that users get through their PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold subscriptions, whereas in the case of PC players, new free games are available with absolutely no strings attached through platforms like the Epic Games Store.

June 2021 has its own batch of free games for users to download, with the Epic Games Store offering two free titles for users to download. PS Plus subscribers can claim one PS5 game and two PS4 titles right now, whereas there are three games available for Xbox Live Gold subscribers as well.

Anyone interested in claiming these free games for their collection should make it a point to do so as soon as possible. These titles won't be free forever, though they will all be replaced with a fresh batch of free games soon enough.

Epic Games Store Free Games List for This Week

  • Hell is Other Demons
  • Overcooked 2

At the start of June, the Epic Games Store was giving away one free mystery game each week to promote the Epic Mega Sale. Now that the Epic Mega Sale is over, the Epic Games Store has reverted back to giving away two free games each week. This week's offerings, available until Thursday, June 24 at 10:00am CT, are the indie games Hell is Other Demons and Overcooked 2. Hell is Other Demons is a shooter/platformer game whereas Overcooked 2 is a well-received party game where players work together to cook various recipes.

And since the Epic Games Store mystery games are over with, fans know what will be replacing Hell is Other Demons and Overcooked 2 come June 24. When that day rolls around, fans can expect Horizon Chase Turbo and Sonic Mania to be slotted in their place. Horizon Chase Turbo is a racing game, whereas Sonic Mania is one of the most critically-acclaimed Sonic games in recent years. Both will be available until July 1, at which point they too will be cycled out for some fresh titles.

PS Plus Free Games List for June 2021

  • Operation: Tango
  • Star Wars: Squadrons
  • Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown Edition

As has been the case since the PlayStation 5 launched, the free PS Plus games for June 2021 consist of one PS5 game and two PS4 games. On the PS5 side of things, PS Plus subscribers can claim Operation: Tango, a unique co-op game that requires players to work together using voice chat. On PS4, PS Plus subscribers can claim Star Wars: Squadrons, a space combat sim set in the Star Wars universe that earned mostly positive reviews, and Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown Edition, an enhanced version of Virtua Fighter 5 that comes with some new features.

Operation: Tango and Star Wars Squadrons will be cycled out of the free PS Plus games lineup come Tuesday, July 6, at which point they will be replaced by new games. However, Virtua Fighter 5 is going to remain a free PS Plus game until August 3. PS Plus subscribers will still have three games to download in July regardless, with Sony likely to announce them on June 30, the last Wednesday of the month. However, it seems one of the free PS Plus games for July 2021 may have leaked ahead of time.

Leaks point to the Plague Tale: Innocence next-gen remaster being one of the free PS Plus games for July 2021. The person that leaked that accurately leaked the existence of A Plague Tale: Requiem prior to its announcement as well as the existence of the Plague Tale: Innocence next-gen remaster itself. While fans should always take leaks with a grain of salt, chances seem better than usual that this leak is accurate and the next-gen remaster of A Plague Tale: Innocence will indeed be one of the free PS Plus games for July 2021.

Free Xbox Games With Gold List for June 2021

  • Injustice: Gods Among Us (available until June 30)
  • Shadows: Awakening (available until July 15)
  • The King's Bird (available until June 30)

Xbox Games with Gold subscribers currently have three free games that they can claim for their collection. On Xbox One, the free Games with Gold Games for June 2021 currently available consist of Shadows: Awakening and The King's Bird, two fairly obscure indie games. However, those on Xbox 360 have a more high profile free game that they can claim in the form of Injustice: Gods Among Us, the DC superhero fighting game from Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios.

When it comes to the Xbox free Games with Gold, it's becoming increasingly obvious that Microsoft is simply not putting that much effort into offering fans worthwhile games. Instead Microsoft seems focused on adding games to its Xbox Game Pass lineup, with the goal of getting as many people subscribed to the service as possible. Even so, one can't beat free, and so Xbox Live Gold subscribers may still want to consider claiming these free games if they haven't already. Some new free games will be announced soon and added to the service come July 1, so subscribers should stay tuned to see what those turn out to be.
