With great weaponry comes great replayability. With so many games to choose from, some players may not want an entirely new experience, but a game familiar to them, but unique enough that they can pick it up, play it again, and experience similar thrills as they did the very first time. Whether it’s to hone their skills or to simply enjoy a familiar experience, first-person shooters have a lot to offer than just shooting things.
There are great FPS titles out there with the most replay value. From total price to hours spent, there’s intense joy in an FPS experience. This can be shared with friends or enjoyed alone, but either way, there’s an FPS game for everyone.
8 Left 4 Dead 2
Playable entirely solo, or with three friends, Left 4 Dead 2 is immortalized as one of the most fun first-person shooter experiences. The game features plenty of weapons, from guns, to melee weapons, to bombs. Not only is there an abundance of weaponry, but the zombie hordes know no limits, and there’s a great variety of enemies to plow through.
Players will venture through cities, swaps, and cemeteries across five campaigns, meaning there are plenty of maps for action and horror. With spawns changing per run, the game is infinitely replayable. The assistance of Steam mods also adds unique ways to play the game.
7 Half-Life
As a revolutionary first-person shooter, Half-Life offers players a lot of variety in the way they play. There’s so much attention to detail in Half-Life, from its iconic sound design to the weaponry. Navigating through the Black Mesa facility is fun every time, with players competing in speed runs on how fast they can get through certain segments.
As Valve’s debut title, Half-Life blends action and adventure with fright. It’s a great title, with a lot of replayability due to the physics engine, and the many directions players can take through the levels. Shooting is always fun in this 1998 classic.
6 Team Fortress 2
Most replayable first-person shooters are in the multiplayer genre, as players can infinitely have fun with a new team, against a different team every time. No player is the same, and every game will be unique and interesting, if not sometimes frustrating to lose.
As a multiplayer first-person shooter, Team Fortress 2 is 15 years old, with a greatly loyal and active community. Team Fortress 2 fans love the many classes and their distinct personalities, as well as the collectible and sometimes expensive hats that can be purchased for the characters.
5 Borderlands 2
Borderlands 2 is a great experience upon every playthrough. In Borderlands 2, players will find so many missions across the base game and DLCs, with a lot of laughs to have in the smart writing of both the villains and the wacky characters that inhabit Pandora. Borderlands 2 is a looter shooter, with so much loot that players will be addicted to killing for those sweet legendary weapons.
The story itself is a blast, featuring a group of Vault Hunters, facing off against the villainous mastermind, Handsome Jack. Players can make plenty of friends in a co-op experience, and enjoy a replay of Borderlands 2 with the many different Vault Hunters to choose from.
4 Dishonored 2
Although playing the first Dishonored is somewhat vital to playing the sequel, Dishonored 2 is the more replayable of the two games. In Dishonored 2, players have the choice between the royal protector, Corvo Attano, or Empress Emily Kaldwin. There’s a uniqueness to choice in Dishonored 2, as there are many crossbows and guns to shoot.
Players will be able to choose if they want supernatural powers, or not. Between the two protagonists, they can experience a different story based on their choices throughout the game, and what powers and routes they take. Morality is a deciding factor in the game, so players should choose their kills wisely, or if they will even kill at all.
3 DOOM Eternal
DOOM has taught gamers two things. To rip, and to tear. With DOOM Eternal, ripping and tearing are taken to the extreme, as they enter the visor of The Slayer, a man feared by Hell itself, and the demon spawn that comes from it. With plenty of collectibles and rapid-fire action, DOOM Eternal is one of the best first-person shooter experiences.
The only thing that the armies of Hell fear once they invade Earth, is The Slayer. It’s beyond exhilarating and fun to battle an abundance of demons and mow through them. The power that players will feel is immense and makes other first-person shooters feel like a baby simulator.
2 Fallout: New Vegas
Starting again in Fallout: New Vegas feels like home. Emerging from Doc Mitchell’s cabin, and entering a wild wasteland filled with mystery and murder is a treat. There’s so much to love about Fallout: New Vegas, and with so many dialogue options, players can choose to play their way.
There are many factions to choose from in Fallout: New Vegas, with dire consequences for the remaining playthrough. Players need to choose wisely in who they side with, as there’s no going back. Unless, of course, they replay the game, which is infinitely fun in itself.
1 PAYDAY 2
This action-packed co-op shooter is filled with replayability. Gamers don the masks of one of many heisters in PAYDAY 2 and work across the CRIMENET network to find a huge range of dynamic and unique contracts. With so many different heists, players can play their way. They can break into a bank, with not a soul noticing, or create a mass shootout with the police and FBI, all for some sweet stacks of cash.
There’s such a variety in content that players will never get bored, and considering the spawn of items and guards changes with each game, it makes for a great experience to replay. PAYDAY 2 is one of the best first-person shooters, for its versatility in weapons, builds, and choices, value, and replayability.
