First announced back in July 2020, it's been a little while since fans have seen anything from Forza Motorsport. Though it's dropping the number from its title, Forza Motorsport is technically the eighth game in the series, and this new entry seems to be improving on its predecessors in some pretty major ways. Taking a more realistic approach to racing than its Forza Horizon sibling, Forza Motorsport is set to introduce a whole slew of new technically-impressive, groundbreaking features, and fans might finally get to see more from it in the upcoming Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct showcase.

Planned to go live on January 25 2023, the Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct will highlight a handful of first-party games that are heading to the Xbox and PC this year. Along with Arkane's Redfall and Minecraft Legends, Forza Motorsport is confirmed to appear at the showcase, and there's plenty more to reveal about the long-awaited racing game ahead of its slated Spring 2023 release window.

What Could Be Revealed About Forza Motorsport at the Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct

According to the official itinerary posted on the Xbox website, this upcoming Developer Direct will definitely showcase Forza Motorsport, though Microsoft and developer Turn 10 Studios haven't explained the capacity or form of its appearance yet. The official description simply states that the Developer Direct will "share more gameplay and exciting new details" about the game, which is about as vague as the gaming industry gets. Thankfully, though, that does mean that fans won't have to sit and watch just a pretty cutscene for a few minutes.

Back in June 2022, Xbox revealed Forza Motorsport's gameplay for the first time, and it was quite the display. While one might have expected to see just another Forza Motorsport entry, it seems as though Turn 10 has really gone above and beyond with the project, bringing a whole host of new and exciting features to the game that make the most use of the Xbox Series X's abilities, and push the boundaries of realistic car racing sims.

Along with showcasing the game's beyond-beautiful graphics, Forza Motorsport's last trailer also gave fans an insight into the game's new strides into realism. Forza Motorsport will have a realistic day and night cycle that gradually changes during the course of a race, meaning that lighting and shadows will change dynamically while the player is racing along. This change in day and night is paired with the change in seasons and weather, which all in turn affect the temperature of the track itself, which will apparently change the feeling of the road beneath the player's car.

Though nothing has been confirmed just yet, it's a safe bet to assume that Forza Motorsport's slot in the Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct will focus heavily on these new features once more, and hopefully a few new mechanics will be showcased as well. At the bare minimum, fans will get another look at Forza Motorsport's gameplay, and that alone is promising leading up to its expected launch. After all, it's also possible that Forza Motorsport's release date gets officially announced. Right now, the game is slated for a Spring 2023 release, which could mean the game releases anytime between the end of March and the end of June. Hopefully this Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct narrows down that date a bit more, so fans can start getting properly excited, and Xbox can start pushing the game in its marketing.
