There’s a whole new set of challenges available in Fortnite Chapter 2, and some of the new challenges require players to interact with newly-added mechanics like fishing for weapons and hiding in the new hideouts. Hideouts are one of the newly added mechanics which allow players to ambush their enemies. Players can hop into any one of the available hideouts and conceal themselves from their enemies. This new mechanic adds more depth to the gameplay as players are now able to get the jump on their prey from hiding.

Fortnite has two different types of hideouts that players can use: hay bales and dumpsters. All of the hideouts are scattered around the map at different locations, and the second Open Water Mission Challenge requires players to hide inside hideouts in three different matches. The mission is quite self-explanatory as all players have to do is hide inside any one of the hideouts, but it could get a bit problematic for those who are unaware of the hideout locations. This guide will lay out all of the locations where players can find a bunch of hideouts to complete the challenges and earn the rewards.

How To Find Hideouts in Fortnite

Hideouts are scattered all over the new map, but players will be able to find dumpsters at larger points of interest like Retail Row, Sweaty Sands, Craggy Cliffs, Salty Springs, and Dirty Docks. Most dumpster hideouts are available at the back of the building available in these locations, and it shouldn’t be a problem for players to find a hideout when exploring the new map in Fortnite. Hay bales, on the other hand, are only available at Frenzy Farm for now. Only the big round haystacks can be used as hideouts; the smaller ones are not for hiding at all but could be used for cover.

How To Use Hideouts in Fortnite

Hiding in a hideout is extremely simple, just stand near the hideout and press the interaction button that pops-up on the screen. The same interaction button can be used to leave the hideout, as well. Most players will be looking to complete these challenges, so it’s recommended to be very careful when using a hideout because there’s a high chance that someone might already be hiding in there. Players can also destroy the hideouts to ensure that they don’t get ambushed by hidden players.

Fortnite is available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Android, Xbox One, iOS, Microsoft Windows, and Macintosh.
