Fortnite's Chapter 5 Season 3 update has just launched and introduced a Mad Max-like theme to the battle royale, and fittingly, Epic Games has also incorporated the Fallout franchise into the new wasteland aesthetic by adding Nuka-Cola as a consumable item, T-60 Power Armor as a battle pass skin, and more coming later in the season. This only continues Epic's savvy strategy of adding new Fortnite items that are inspired by trendy franchises.

Following the recent release of Amazon's Fallout show, the Fallout franchise has enjoyed a huge resurgence in popularity, making it a great candidate for Fortnite's latest collaboration. The crossover had been rumored for some time thanks to datamined leaks, but Epic officially confirmed the event about a week before Season 3's launch, leading to plenty of excitement among those who are both Fallout and Fortnite fans.

Fortnite: How To Get Magneto

Marvel's Master of Magnetism, Magneto, joins Fortnite's Battle Royale in Chapter 5 Season 3, providing the wasteland with a new Mutant leader.

The first Fallout item added to Fortnite is Nuka-Cola, which gives the user a health and shield boost after consuming it. Also coming to Fortnite later on in Season 3 is Fallout's Tri-Beam Laser Rifle that fires precise laser shots but can overheat, according to its datamined description. Fallout fans looking to pay homage to the series through their in-game appearance are in luck as well, as a T-60 Power Armor skin can be unlocked by reaching tier 54 of Fortnite's new battle pass. Season 3's battle pass contains plenty of other Fallout-inspired cosmetic items, including additional styles for the T-60 skin, a Pip-Boy backbling, Assaultron Blade pickaxe, Vault-Tec Vaulter glider, and more.

Details of Fortnite's Nuka-Cola Item

Fortnite's Nuka-Cola is an Epic item in rarity, so players will need a bit of luck if they want to find it through normal means like chests or floor loot. But, as its rarity suggests, the Fallout-inspired consumable comes with decent advantages, as users can stack up to three of them in one inventory slot and drink the cola to induce 25 points of instant health regen plus 75 points of gradual shield regen.

As another nod to Fallout's iconic Nuka-Cola, players will hear recognizable sound effects when consuming the item in Fortnite, as the same sound that plays when users drink a Nuka-Cola in Fallout also plays in the battle royale. Also, after the user drinks a Nuka-Cola, their Fortnite character slips the bottle's cap into their pocket and is gifted a gold bar, which is another homage to Bethesda's RPG series in which bottle caps are the main form of currency.
