Fortnite is rolling out its latest update today. The v19.40 update adds a variety of new features to the game, spanning across several of Fortnite's modes. This latest update adds a new Spider-Man themed week, new features for Imposters, and more.

Epic Games' ever-popular free-to-play battle royale title is in the final weeks of its inaugural Chapter 3 season. Fortnite has ramped up its Marvel content again in recent weeks, with characters like Rogue, Gambit, and Hawkeye's Clint Barton and Kate Bishop dropping into the island. The two massive properties are set to collaborate even further, with a new Fortnite/Marvel Comics mini-series announced a few days ago.

Detailed on the official Fortnite website, the v19.40 update's main component is the new Spider-Man themed week. Dubbed "Amazing Web Week," players will be able to find Spider-Man’s Web Shooters as Chest loot in addition to the coveted item's usual spawn points. Adding to player airtime is Bouncers, which are unvaulted for the duration of Amazing Web Week. Replays are also getting a new feature added, in that players can change the time of day when playing back a replay. The only exception being Creative Islands where the time of day has been set by the Island’s creator.

In addition to the Amazing Web Week and the added feature to replays, Fortnite's Imposters mode is getting updated. The “Impostors (Voice)” playlist now uses proximity voice chat, meaning who players hear is based on who’s around their character. Players will still be able to opt out of voice chat via the regular "Imposters" playlist. The divisive game mode has been previously accused of being a rip-off of Among Us, given the mode's virtually identical premise. This led to Fortnite formally crediting Among Us for its Imposters mode in late 2021.

The new update brings a few new features to the game, but is notably less robust than Fortnite's 19.30 update patch. The previous update introduced a new controller option in the form of a flick stick and gyro-supported controls. For those who may be unaware, gyro controls make it so players can aim by tilting their controller, and flick stick enables players to more quickly turn their camera in the x-axis direction pointed. The 19.30 update also removed the mode select screen, putting players straight into the lobby upon login.

Considering just how popular Spider-Man's Web Shooters have become this season, the majority of Fortnite's player base will likely be keeping time on the ground at the bare minimum until Amazing Web Week ends on March 8. While Marvel is certainly the dominant comic book property featured in the game, there are rumors that Fortnite is planning another crossover with DC's Batman, syncing up with the caped crusader's upcoming film.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
