Earlier today, Fortnite added an all-new gameplay mode inspired by Avengers: Infinity War, calling it the Infinity Gauntlet mode, which lets players take on the role of Thanos after acquiring the titular glove from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, however, it looks as if Epic Games has decided that the character is a tad overpowered, so the development team behind the popular sandbox survival title has decided to nerf the Mad Titan for the time being.

As explained in a recent post on the official Fortnite Battle Royale subreddit, Epic Games has now rolled out a hot fix that makes certain changes to Thanos that reduces his shield cap and damage output, while increasing his overall health. To be specific, the patch for the Infinity Gauntlet mode will decrease the Marvel villain's shield cap from 300 to 200, lessen his laser damage from 15 to 12, and increase his max health from 700 to 800.

According to Epic Games, it will continue to monitor the feedback in regards to the Thanos nerf, which implies that there could be further changes to his attributes in yet another patch in the near future. A quick scan of fans' messages in the Fortnite subreddit shows that most players aren't happy with the tweaks, with many actually suggesting that the Mad Titan be buffed in order to more accurately represent his seemingly unstoppable characteristics in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With this being the case, it will be interesting to see how Epic responds.

All things considered, Epic Games' decision to nerf Thanos in Fortnite's latest Limited Time Mode looks to be another instance of fans being somewhat disappointed with what the Infinity Gauntlet mode is bringing to the table, as many initially expected that Avengers-inspired skins would be coming, too. So, while it is a decidedly cool novelty to play as the character in the game, it appears as if lots of folks will avoid becoming Thanos until he's upgraded to be a lot better, faster, and stronger.

Fortnite is available now in early access for iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
