It goes without saying that Epic Games' own massively popular battle royale game Fortnite has made the rounds since its breakout release back in 2017, with millions upon millions of concurrent players even today. Throughout its lifespan, one of Fortnite's most alluring features has been its massive map, which has been ever-changing with each new large update to the game, constantly giving players new POI's to explore.

Of course, it goes without saying that with millions of people playing Fortnite and with nearly 100 players in each ongoing match at a time, not only have many found victory in the game, but even more have found defeat, being eliminated before they could secure a coveted Victory Royale. Now, someone has gathered a great amount of data in order to determine the most dangerous locations in Fortnite's current map.

Fortnite leaker Lucas7yoshi posted a tweet yesterday with a photo of a heatmap showing FortniteChapter 2 Season 5's deadliest locations based on eliminations. In the tweet, Lucas7yoshi noted that their data is based on a sample size of 50,000 eliminations during the current season. On the heatmap, the areas in blue show the least amount of activity, while the areas in green show more eliminations, and the areas in red show the most eliminations.

While the results of Lucas7yoshi's heatmap aren't exactly shocking, they do provide some interesting insight into the most popular locations in the game. To no surprise, Salty Towers, seemingly the spiritual successor to the legendary Tilted Towers, has undoubtedly the most eliminations out of any POI in Fortnite right now. Lazy Lake seems to follow just behind Salty Towers, with a hint of red in its location on the map, and other locations like Pleasant Park and the recently added Stealthy Stronghold see their fair share of eliminations as well. In another Tweet, Lucas7yoshi showed that most of the eliminations in Salty Towers take place at the POI's tallest tower.

Ever since Tilted Towers was removed from Fortnite back in Chapter 1 Season 8, players have clamored for a similar high-intensity zone. It seems that for the most part, Salty Towers, a combination of Tilted Towers and Salty Springs, has been Epic Games' compromise in bringing back the popular location with some twists, such as filling it with sand, allowing opponents to traverse the area quickly while sneaking up on each other.

As Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 continues and goes into its 9th week, the most recent season has brought players plenty of events, crossovers, and more in the past couple of months. Now, it will be interesting to see if any changes are made to popular locations like Salty Towers and Lazy Lake in the future.

Fortnite is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
