While many players are still busy completing Fortnite's Season 3 Week 8 challenges, a leak has now revealed the new tasks that will be available when Week 9 begins. That new week is set to start this Thursday, August 13, and players that want to complete all of the challenges, and make some progress on the seasonal Battle Pass, will need to search Chests, get Eliminations, and more.

In preface of detailing Fortnite's Season 3 Week 9 challenges, it is important to mention that all of them are subject to change. While it is not extremely common, leaked challenges are occasionally altered before they go live, and sometimes they do not go live at all. As such, players should not consider this a fully confirmed list of the Week 9 challenges, though it is likely to be extremely close to, if not exactly, the list of challenges that will become available in-game on Thursday.

Fortnite Season 3 Week 9 Challenges

  • Search Chests at Pleasant Park (0/7) - 35,000 XP
  • Eliminations at The Fortilla (0/3) - 35,000 XP
  • Gas up a Vehicle at Catty Corner (0/1) - 35,000 XP
  • Stoke Campfires at Camp Cod (0/3) - 35,000 XP
  • Collect Metal at Hydro 16 (0/200) - 35,000 XP
  • Eliminate Henchmen or Marauders (0/7) - 35,000 XP
  • Eliminate Henchmen or Marauders (0/70) - 80,000 XP
  • Search Ammo Boxes at Misty Meadows (0/7) - 35,000 XP

In general, the Season 3 Week 9 challenges are fairly straightforward, with many of them taking place at locations that are immediately apparent on Fortnite's map. There are some exceptions, though, such as the challenge that tasks players with collecting Metal at Hydro 16 and the one that requires them to stoke Campfires at Camp Cod, which will send fans to some slightly less obvious locations.

So too, the challenge that asks players to gas up a Vehicle at Catty Corner may cause some confusion, as this is quite a new mechanic in the game. Fortunately, it is not extremely difficult to fuel cars in Fortnite, and even if a fan has never done it before they will likely need only a little instruction to complete this challenge.

Finally, the Henchmen or Marauders challenge that needs 70 Eliminations is notable due to this steep Elimination requirement. However, this is very likely to be a team-focused challenge, akin to what has been seen in earlier weeks of the season, and thus players will probably not need to get these Eliminations on their own. This should be indicated by a banner reading "Rec: 4 Players" placed atop the challenge, and the additional XP that it rewards should make completing it worth the extra effort.

Fortnite is available now on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development.
