Fortnite developer Epic Games is rewarding its PC users with a pack that can't be picked up on consoles. The company made the special offer available for Fortnite PC players as a way to celebrate and draw attention to its annual Epic Games Store sale.
Epic has been going big in promoting the sale and it apparently thinks offering something special to Fortnite players will help draw attention. This is hardly the first time the company has offered free items and cosmetics as part of a promotion, but it's generally offered those items on all platforms where its signature Battle Royale game is available.
This time around, Epic is offering a new pack that features the shadow form of popular Fortnite skin, Ruby. The company announced the giveaway challenge pack on its official Twitter account. It also detailed just what items would be available for those who go to the Epic Games Store to redeem it.
Alongside the tweet, Epic included a caption that "some players like to stay in the shadows." It then divulged that those who opened Fortnite on the Epic Games Store will not only get the Ruby Shadows Outfit but will also be able to add the Shadow Slicer Pickaxe and the Sky Shadow Glider to their inventory. While the Street Shadows challenge pack is only redeemable for PC users, once they grab the bonus content, it will carry over onto their accounts on whatever other platforms they may use.
As is usually the case when it comes to these kinds of challenge packs, there will be different things that players have to accomplish in order to actually use the items on offer. However, the challenges to get the Shadow Ruby items aren't particularly difficult. The Sky Shadow glider becomes available to equip when a player outlasts a total of 500 opponents. That can be done in just a few rounds if someone is lucky and good enough. The Shadow Slicer Pickaxe will unlock when a player deals 1,000 damage to opponents. The Sky Shadow Glider unlocks after users play five games with friends. When all three of those items have been acquired the Ruby Shadow skin will be added to the user's inventory.
This particular challenge pack will be available exclusively on the Epic Games Store until June 17. Epic has also made it clear that eventually, all of these items will be purchasable separately in the Fortnite shop, but users will have to use their V-Bucks when they arrive there.
Fortnite is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
