Fortnite's upcoming Proximity Chat feature, which was scheduled to go live in June, has now been delayed by a few months. Fortnite has several game modes: Save the World, Battle Royale, Creative, Fortnite Festival, LEGO Fortnite, and Rocket Racing. Each game mode is completely different and gives players an experience unlike any of the others. For example, those who prefer Guitar Hero-like games will certainly have fun playing Fortnite Festival, and gamers who prefer the Survival genre and cozy games will most likely stick to LEGO Fortnite. While many fans play various of the modes Fortnite has to offer, others will only consistently play one mode.

Fortnite Festival, LEGO Fortnite, and Rocket Racing were added back in December 2023, but the other modes have been around for ages. Throughout the years, they've been regularly updated with quality-of-life changes and content patches. However, there's always room for more, and fans are constantly requesting features that they believe will improve the game. Proximity chat is one of these features, which is why many in the community were happy to learn that Epic Games was working on adding a Proximity Chat option to Fortnite Creative.

Fortnite Leak Reveals Fan-Requested Feature From Festival is Finally Being Added

A recent leak from Fortnite Festival is teasing the addition of a highly-requested feature to the rhythm game spinoff in the near future.

The UEFN Roadmap revealed that Epic Games wanted to add Proximity Chat by the second quarter of 2024, so players expected this feature to be released before the end of June. However, according to leaker ShiinaBR, Proximity Chat has been delayed, and it won't be available in Fortnite until the fourth quarter of the year. Fans who were excited about trying out this new feature will have to wait at least an additional three months.

When Will Proximity Chat Become Available in Fortnite

There are several online multiplayer games with Proximity Chat, and it works great in some cases. However, it is unknown how well this will sit with the Fortnite community. Proximity Chat will only be available in Fortnite Creative at first, and there will likely be several restrictions to keep it as safe as possible. Gamers will probably only be able to take advantage of the Proximity Chat feature if they have it enabled in Settings and if the Creative map they choose to play has it on as well.

The Cabined Accounts option provides a tailored experience for young children, which makes it impossible for them to access voice chat features at all. This means that, in order to keep Creative as safe as possible, these gamers won't be able to access voice chat.
