  • Power Rangers has a long-standing history in pop culture and has been compared to other franchises that have crossed over with Fortnite.
  • While the rumor should be taken with a grain of salt, fans of Power Rangers are hoping that the potential collaboration becomes a reality so that they can stay busy until the reboot launches next year.

A new rumor suggests that Fortnite players could soon see a crossover with Power Rangers, particularly the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers team that first started the legendary superhero franchise. Based on the long-running Japanese television series Super Sentai, Power Rangers would air more-or-less continuously for the past three decades, offering up an ever-changing roster of transforming heroes tasked with defending Earth from various Power Rangers villains with the help of their special costumes and gigantic Zord robots. The latest season, Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, was released on Netflix back in September, and a reboot is reportedly in the works for 2025.

While some seasons have been more well-remembered than others, Power Rangers has been a staple of pop culture for over 30 years, and it has often been compared to many of the franchises that have crossed over with Fortnite. Epic Games’ massively successful multiplayer battle royale has seen special guest appearances from countless superheroes and television characters, with some of the Island’s most recent visitors being the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, their longtime ally April O’Neal, and their equally iconic arch-nemesis Shredder.

The Heroes In A Half Shell could be joined by another team of teenage Saturday morning do-gooders in Fortnite soon, at least according to the latest rumor shared on the Xbox Era podcast. Co-host and gaming rumor hunter Nick "Shpeshal Nick" Baker claimed that Epic is planning to introduce the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers team as playable characters "soon." Baker is still uncertain about some of the finer details, like when exactly this crossover will happen or if fan-favorite Tommy Oliver will appear in his Green or White Ranger personas.

The Power Rangers Could Morph Their Way Into Fortnite Soon

The Power Rangers franchise has a rich history with video games, especially during the original Mighty Morphin era. There has been a minor resurgence of sorts in the past few years, with 2018’s Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid featuring its own crossover thanks to Ryu and Chun-Li of Street Fighter fame appearing as guest fighters - complete with their own original Ranger forms to boot. Fans have also paid tribute to the Teenagers with Attitude in numerous other games, modding Ryu’s Ranger costume into Street Fighter 6 and even building Megazord-inspired spaceships in Starfield.

Power Rangers

The rumors surrounding the original Power Rangers being added to Fortnite are still just that, so players eager to blast their way across the island as the Mighty Morphin heroes of old should stay skeptical for the time being. That being said, Power Rangers isn’t too dissimilar from some other franchises Fortnite has crossed over with, and it contains a massive cast of characters that Epic could mine for future skins should the original six prove successful. If anything else, this rumored Fortnite/Power Rangers collaboration could be a fun way to hold fans over until Jonathan Entwistle and Jenny Klein’s reboot launches sometime next year.
