Players that want to unlock the Ruby Shadows skin in Fortnite must complete three unique challenges, and while most of them are quite straightforward, there is one that may leave some fans slightly confused. More specifically, there is a challenge that instructs players to outlast opponents, and its meaning may not be entirely clear. For those fans that are wondering exactly how they should go about outlasting their opponents in Fortnite, this guide contains full details.

To put things simply, players will have outlasted an opponent every time that an adversary is eliminated before they are. Thus, this Ruby Shadows Quest in Fortnite is all about survival, and indeed fans should focus on staying alive for as long as possible. Of course, players will not be able to complete this challenge in a single match, as they must outlast a total of 500 opponents, but fans that play carefully should get through it fairly quickly.

In fact, staying hidden is probably the easiest way to approach this task, and fans can certainly consider hunkering down inside of a bush and waiting for their opponents to be eliminated. While that may not be the most exciting approach to this Fortnite challenge, it is quite efficient and can be maintained with very little effort. That said, it is also completely feasible to outlast 500 opponents through standard gameplay, and players should feel free to go with that option if it is their preference.

To note, the "outlast opponents" challenge does not update upon every single elimination, and Fortnite players will instead see the number of foes that they outlasted added to the challenge total when they themselves are dispatched. While that should not have much of an impact at all, this information may alleviate concerns about whether quest progress tracking is functioning properly. Indeed, there are no apparent bugs with this Ruby Shadows Quest, and fans just need to wait until the end of their matches to receive credit.

Upon outlasting 500 opponents, players will receive indication that they have completed the challenge and earned their reward. That reward is the Ruby Shadows Glider, which is black and white and compliments the related Pickaxe and Back Bling quite nicely. Fans will earn those additional  items when they finish the other two Ruby Shadows Quests, which center around playing with friends and damaging opponents, and they will unlock her outfit in Fortnite when all three of them are done.

Fortnite is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
