December 7 is set to be a massive day for Fortnite, as the hugely popular game is set to introduce a major new game mode and will be showcasing another one that will be added as part of a later update. Fortnite started life as a PvE co-op shooter game with unique building mechanics. However, the game really took off with the introduction of its Battle Royale mode, which has since become the title's core game mode.

Fortnite didn't stop at adding the Battle Royale. Fortnite later introduced Creative mode, giving fans the chance to build their own game modes and maps, ensuring near-endless content for fans of the game to enjoy. Now with Chapter 5, Fortnite is about to introduce even more major game modes. The first of these new modes will be added to the game as part of its big Thursday, December 7 update.

Fortnite makes some changes to its storm circles following the recent Chapter 5 update and its adjustments to the game's movement speeds.

On December 7, Fortnite will officially add LEGO Fortnite to the mix, a survival game mode that has drawn comparisons to Minecraft. But LEGO Fortnite isn't the only reason fans have to be excited about December 7. Fortnite will also be featured at The Game Awards 2023, and it's already been confirmed that another major new mode coming to the game will be showcased at the event.

LEGO Fortnite Adds Survival Mechanics to the Game

Before The Game Awards 2023 goes live on December 7, Fortnite fans will be treated to the debut of LEGO Fortnite. LEGO Fortnite will see Fortnite's iconic skins get LEGO makeovers and challenges players with exploring the island, building structures, and more. It's essentially what happens when Fortnite meets Minecraft, and if the mode is as fun as it sounds on paper, it could genuinely be the next big thing to help Fortnite reach the next level.

Fortnite Will Be at The Game Awards

The addition of LEGO Fortnite will be huge, but Fortnite fans should also keep an eye on December 7 because of the game's presence at The Game Awards 2023. The Game Awards 2023 starts on December 7 at 4:30pm PT, and at some point, the event will showcase Rocket Racing, a new racing mode that serves as a spin-off of sorts for Rocket League. Both Rocket League and Fortnite are owned by Epic Games, so the crossover makes a great deal of sense. The unveiling will happen on December 7, though the mode itself won't be in the game until December 8. LEGO Fortnite and Rocket Racing will then be joined by Fortnite Festival on December 9, which will add a music/rhythm game mode ala Guitar Hero or Rock Band.

Not only is Fortnite going to pull the curtain back on Rocket Racing come December 7, but the game is also nominated for an award at the show. Fortnite is nominated in the Best Ongoing Game category at The Game Awards 2023, an award it has won multiple times in the past, and stands a good chance at winning this year as well.
