Fortnite could be getting its own car racing game mode, and it might be receiving more content than anyone could have expected. Even though Fortnite battle royale mode was released after Save the World, it was significantly more successful and is now much more popular than its predecessor. The game's fanbase only grew with time, and this allowed Epic Games to explore other options, such as the Creative game mode and Zero Build mode.

Creative mode was a success among fans, and there were even gamers that fully dedicated themselves to creating maps and sharing them with the community. It evolved and eventually, Fortnite released Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), also known as Creative 2.0, which is an improved and much more sophisticated version of the original Creative game mode. Zero Build mode allowed players that didn't enjoy the building aspect of the game to still play a Fortnite battle royale match without it. Now it seems that a new major game mode might be coming to Fortnite this year.

According to various community dataminers, there are Fortnite files that indicate a new racing car game mode codenamed "DelMar" is in development right now and should release within a few months. It appears that this mode will be big; leaks suggest that a customization garage will be accessible from the main game lobby, and it will have several alternative vehicle alternative styles and model options.

The game files indicate that the DelMar game mode will have several game options, such as a Death Race, several circuits, and even competitive games. Just like the regular battle royale Arena game mode, it'll have various divisions and rankings. Epic Games seems like it wants to take this car racing game to the next level and get it to have its own competitive scene.

Very little is known about this potential car racing game, and how many resources Epic Games is putting into it. Many gamers still believe that the competitive Fortnite battle royale scene is not where it should be yet, so this could be controversial for some fans. If Epic Games is already focusing on hypothetical tournaments for a game mode that's not even out yet, they might deviate the attention that it could've been giving to the standard competitive play. Only time will tell how big the Fortnite car racing game will be, but hopefully, there won't be a clash.

Fortnite is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
