What sets Fortnite apart from all of its competition is the constant influx of new crossover skins and events. While there were rumors of a Last of Us crossover coming soon, these were shot down by Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann, but they were believable because just about anything could come to Fortnite. It has included everything from skins based on the NFL to Naruto, and just about anything someone could think of in-between.

Now, it seems the latest crossover is with WWE, as part of Epic Game’s SummerSlam celebration. Indeed, WWE’s SummerSlam is just days away, with Logan Paul vs. The Miz, Bianca Belair vs. Becky Lynch for the Raw’s Women’s Championship, Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship, and much more. WWE is promoting this major event in a number of ways, including a new theme song called “Summer Nights” by Jelly Roll.

Although John Cena is not on the SummerSlam card, he is a good pick to keep WWE on the mind. He’ll be added to the Item Shop on July 28 at 8 PM ET, and he comes with two outfits: his iconic Entrance Gear and his Ring Gear styles. The Fortnite outfits come as part of a full John Cena set, which includes the WWE Championship Title Back Bling (fitting for the 16-time Champion), the open-hand Five Digit Slapper pickaxe, and the U Can’t C Me Emote—based on his iconic handwave.

This is no doubt exciting, but it’s not the first time John Cena has been connected to Fortnite. There were rumors, seemingly unfounded now, a few months back that John Cena was coming to Fortnite…as his DCEU character Peacemaker. Whether this John Cena outfit is perfect as is or if the DCEU Peacemaker would have been better is entirely up to preference, but the timing of John Cena’s release on Fortnite is good, to say the least.

Fortnite has been busy as ever, but so have the events surrounding the WWE. Following an investigation by the board into a handful of sexual harassment claims, WWE CEO Vince McMahon has announced his retirement. It’s a tricky situation, but his retirement may be for the best while any investigation is still conducted and proper punishments are doled out. Either way, WWE, SummerSlam, and Fortnite are pressing on, and it could be a new era for the wrestling company.

Fortnite is available on all major platforms.
