Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 has introduced various new cosmetic skins like Ellen Ripley and Xenomorph, backpacks, emotes, and weapons for players to dive into. Some of these items are new to Fortnite, while others have returned after being scrapped from the game for years. One such item is the Lock On Pistol, which was first introduced to Fortnite in Chapter 4, Season 2.

The Lock On Pistol has a tracking system that locks opponents within 50 meters and hits them with up to four bullets, with the fifth dealing critical damage. The pistol was criticized for being too overpowered on the battlefield, forcing Epic to discontinue it. Despite being overpowered, the pistol is now back, and here’s a guide on how players can get it during a match.

The Lock On Pistol Fortnite is ground loot found in supply drops, chests, and caches. To find it, players must search weapon chests, caches, and open supply drops and drones across the island. However, finding the Lock On Pistol isn’t guaranteed, as only a few are available in every match. Similarly, they don’t drop in the same location, which makes finding them on the map challenging. To ensure you get a Lock On Pistol during a match, follow these tips:

  • Land in hot spots like Shattered Slabs, The Citadel, and Anvil Square. These arrears have high-rarity weapon chests, increasing your chances of finding the Lock On Pistol.
  • Keep an eye out for supply drops and drones, as they most likely contain rare weapons, including this pistol. You can shoot down supply drones or follow the map to where they drop, but beware of other opponents lurking by.
  • Land at the edges of the map close to the shores and go fishing. You can find fishing rods nearby to catch high-rarity loot hidden in open waters.

Note that players have a 15% chance of finding the Lock On Pistol in open water and only a 7% chance of getting it as floor loot and in chests. So, it is recommend to check out the shores if you want to get your hands on a Lock On Pistol. Players can also check obscure areas that others may not look at, especially on the edges of the map.

Once you find a Lock On Pistol, use it to track nearby enemies and defeat them. The pistol works best at medium range and will deal critical damage with the fifth shot.
