Fortnite has had hundreds of items and weapons come and go. Every now and then, one of these items reappears after being vaulted for a few months - it's especially common when an event takes place. Fortnite is hosting an event between September 19 and September 26 to celebrate the sixth anniversary of the Battle Royale game mode.

During this time, players will be able to find Birthday Cake and Birthday Presents all across the Battle Royale island, but those aren't the only items that will be available this week; gamers will also find tons of Balloons in Fortnite, and this guide will show them exactly how to use them.

How to Get Balloons

There are only three ways to get Balloons in Fortnite during the 6th Birthday Event: gamers can either encounter balloons as floor loot, they can find them inside treasure chests, or they can continuously get them throughout the rest of the match by activating the Jump Balloon Reality Augment.

Since there are currently quite a few different items in the game, players might have trouble coming across the Balloon item while exploring and looting locations. The Jump Balloon Reality Augment automatically grants the player a balloon from time to time for the remainder of the match, so players won't actually have to find the item. However, the Augment cannot be deactivated later on, and fans must beware of this fact before committing to it.

Balloons and the Jump Balloon Reality Augment will be available in Fortnite until the end of the 6th Birthday Event on September 26, 2023, at 12 AM ET.

How Balloons Work

When the player has balloons attached to their back, they won't suffer any fall damage, and they will be able to jump quite high - the powerful helium balloons can easily lift them up in the air and keep them safe.

When players find the Balloon item, they'll receive a total of ten Balloons in their inventory. However, if they acquire Balloons as a perk from the Jump Balloon Reality Augment, they will simply occasionally appear on the player's back. In total, gamers can inflate up to three balloons in Fortnite, and the more balloons they have, the higher they'll jump.

Fans must be careful when using balloons since they will pop if another player shoots at them or if the player reaches extreme heights.

If the player has a Balloon stack in their inventory, they can inflate a Balloon by pressing the Shoot button. They can also release a Balloon by pressing the Crouch button at any time.

Fortnite is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
