Fortnite has confirmed its latest crossover character arriving on the island. Aloy, who many fans will know as the protagonist from the PlayStation Studios title Horizon Zero Dawn, will be dropping in to the battle royale.

Epic Games' popular free-to-play battle royale is now entering its second month of Season 6. Dubbed "Primal," the new season has seen many changes to the game's meta, including the addition of fauna such as chickens, wolves, boars, and even dinosaurs. Season 6 has also introduced a primal weapon crafting system, numerous map alterations, and other meta changes that remain somewhat divisive among fans.

Confirming previous leaks about Aloy, Fortnite players will be able to get the Horizon Zero Dawn character and her gear beginning April 15. The cosmetics arriving to the item shop include the Aloy Outfit, Blaze Canister Back Bling, Aloy’s Spear Pickaxe, Glinthawk Glider, Shield-Weaver Wrap, the Heart-rizon Emote, and Aloy the Skywatcher loading screen. As a bonus to players on her native platform, PlayStation 5 players who own the Aloy Outfit will unlock the additional Ice Hunter Aloy style. PS5 players were offered a similar deal when Fortnite added its other unofficial Sony mascot, God of War's Kratos. Those who complete a match on the new console unlock the Armored Kratos variant, a celebration of the character's PlayStation legacy.

Players looking to get access to the Horizon Zero Dawn bundle (which includes all of the aforementioned items) need look no further than the Aloy Cup. The upcoming competition will be held on Wednesday, April 14. A Duos tournament, the cup will put an emphasis on Aloy's weapon of choice, the bow. While each elimination will earn a competitor two points, those who manage to get an elimination using a bow will be awarded eight bonus points.  The top performing teams in each server region will receive the Horizon Zero Dawn Bundle before it hits Fortnite's item shop. However, there is a catch - the Aloy Cup is exclusive to PlayStation consoles.

Given Season 6's "Primal" theme, the decision to add the Nora tribe outcast seems logical. However, this may be the only appearance Aloy makes in a game this year, as her upcoming sequel Horizon Forbidden West may be delayed until 2022. In a couple of months, it will have been a full year without any new information about the highly anticipated game. While PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan has publicly tried to dispel such rumors, there is still no confirmed release date beyond a vague "2021."

The addition of Horizon Zero Dawn content is surely a fitting new batch of content, and will likely be one of the more popular franchise crossovers. However, the platform-exclusive cup is sure to give more than a few fans FOMO. For non-Sony Fortnite players, the latest patch has added super level Relic skins for several of Season 6's new characters, which can be earned regardless of platform.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
