Fortnite is one of the most popular games in the Battle Royale genre. Through building and deconstructing items the game has managed to differentiate itself from its competitors, and the title has continued to do this through sponsored content. Fortnite has already had crossover content from Batman, Avengers, and Star Wars but now looks to return to the DC Universe to celebrate the release of Birds of Prey.

The free-to-play model alongside impressive gameplay has made Fortnite a huge success. In fact, Fortnite holds the record for the most concurrent players. It is therefore unsurprising that fans are excited to get hold of new content in the game, even if the items are part of a marketing campaign for a film. While the leak of the Harley Quinn skin has yet to be confirmed, evidence would suggest that this content is on its way.

Dataminers seem to have uncovered the Harley Quinn skins, and a well-trusted source of leaks tweeted the content. Lucas7yoshi revealed a picture of two different Harley Quinn skins and followed it up with a list of challenges which would be associated with the content. Whether players can purchase both skins or need to unlock items is unclear, but many will be looking forward to getting new Fortnite content, especially fans of the DC Universe.

Many players have been expecting a crossover with the Birds of Prey film since the official Fortnite Twitter account responded to a tweet about the film. With the tweet in mind, as well as the history of the title teaming up with upcoming films, it would be a surprise if Birds of Prey content does not arrive. In the meantime, players will have to continue exploring the game and enjoying previous items that were released alongside their favorite films.

Crossover marketing for films has been a huge success, with titles like Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker filling in gaps of the series through Fortnite. It is clear that the game benefits from the content because of player numbers increasing and the films that are involved get added publicity. Most importantly, players get to play as their favorite characters. This marketing strategy may pave the way for other games, but for now, most fans will be eagerly waiting for confirmation of the Harley Quinn skins.

Fortnite is available for the PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Android, and iOS.
