Rumors of a first-person mode in Fortnite have been swirling around the game's community for a while now, leading some players to believe the mode is inevitable. Rumor: Fortnite Could Add a Fall Guys Game Mode in the Future

Rumors suggest that Epic Games might bring yet another mode to Fortnite, increasing the game genres available in a single game.

First-Person in Fortnite Would Negatively Impact The The Game's All-Important Skins

Although Fortnite has some incredibly fun combat, one of the biggest draws of the game are the countless skins players are able to collect. It's obvious that a first-person mode included in Fortnite would completely defeat the purpose of playing with different skins, but it could also benefit the game in one aspect.

It's possible that a first-person mode in Fortnite could actually draw in some more players. Although skins are a Fortnite signature, there are many gamers who aren't interested in cosmetics and just want action. This could be a great way to attract first-person shooter fans to the game and grow Fortnite's player base even larger than it already is.

However, this might truly be the only real benefit of a first-person mode, as many of the game's players come to Fortnite for the new cosmetics that are constantly being released. A first-person version of Fortnite would definitely be compelling for some players, but it could ultimately dampen the overall visual fun of the game.

A First-Person Mode Should Be Optional, Never Fortnite's Focus

Even if Fortnite adds a first-person option for people to jump into, the game should steer away from making a first-person mode a major focus of the game. The different modes and collaborations Fortnite partakes in have kept the game exciting, but the game ultimately works best as a third-person experience. Whether players are into the new Rocket Racing mode, Team Rumble, or the classic Battle Royale, the third-person perspective has been key to making each mode so fun.

One of the areas where Fortnite shines is in its visuals, as the stylized design of the game is one of the many reasons it reigns over other battle royale titles, yet it's hard to imagine playing Fortnite in first-person without it diminishing the great visuals of the game. First-person is a great way to play many games, but it also gives players a limited view of a game's world, and Fortnite's world and environment are some of its biggest stars. It would definitely be interesting to see how a first-person Fortnite mode would work, but it may ultimately be a restrictive way to experience all the game has to offer.
