  • The specifics of the collaboration, such as cosmetic items and offerings, have not been revealed yet.
  • Fans speculate about which Fallout game will inspire the designs.

Fallout is officially coming to Fortnite after weeks of rumors and leaks seemingly teasing the collaboration between Epic Games' battle royale title and Bethesda's iconic RPG franchise. While talk of a collab between the two has been ongoing among fans for a while now following the release of Amazon Prime's Fallout TV show, the official reveal today confirmed that the nuclear wasteland is on its way to Fortnite after all.

It is currently unclear what the collaboration may entail as the developers have not mentioned any specifics in regard to the cosmetic items and other offerings that will come as a result. However, previous collabs have usually included one or a few themed player skins, back blings, weapon wraps, and emotes based on the property in question, usually for sale in the game's in-game item shop.

Epic Games Boss Teases Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 Theme

As rumors make rounds about the possible theme of the next Fortnite season, Mark Rein drops his customary hint for Chapter 5 Season 3.

The official Twitter account for Fortnite revealed the collab this morning with a piece of art showing off a suit of power armor from Fallout along with what appears to be a factory of some sort, though with no official release date as yet. The post was accompanied with a caption that simply consisted of two emojis, a winking face, and a thumbs up as if playing into the speculation from fans that such a reveal was on its way while also referencing the series mascot Vault Boy.

What Will Fallout in Fortnite Look Like?

Fans were quick to respond with excitement and questions about the collaboration in regard to which Fallout game or property it would be taking its designs and items from, but received no official response from Epic. The most recent game in the series is Fallout 76, which seems unlikely as the main source of inspiration given its controversial reputation, leaving the previous main title, Fallout 4, as the most obvious choice.

However, it is entirely possible that the items will just come from the franchise as a whole, pulling fan-favorite elements from across the series into its various offerings as Epic has done in the past. Franchises like Family Guy and Resident Evil have appeared in the past as cosmetic bundles including items from multiple different sources across both series, so anything is possible for Fallout.

This collaboration also provides a unique opportunity when it comes to Fortnite's musical offerings, as the game also sells "Jam Tracks" that are playable in its premiere rhythm game mode, "Fortnite Festival." Fallout is a franchise known for its iconic music spanning several decades, so it is possible fans will see some of these tunes make their way into the game as well.
