While it's not known what is coming next in Fortnite, Epic Games seems to be hinting at what will be arriving in the near future. Season 6 is going to come to an end soon, and when Fortnite Season 7 kicks off early in June, it appears that could involve some sort of alien event.
What exactly that event might be is still not really certain. Epic hasn't actually confirmed aliens are about to be part of Fortnite. However, several content creators recently got a number of different shipments that they are taking to be some kind of hint. Because the "hints" aren't clear, at the moment what's going to be coming in the next season is mostly based on educated guesses.
Fortnite Leaks Tease Something Big is Coming
The hints that aliens are going to be arriving in Fortnite started out with content creators receiving both postcards and DVDs from Epic Games with specific messages. The postcards were accompanied by messages that read, "They're coming," and a few other clues led people to a phone number to call. That number was supposedly routed to a phone in New Mexico, which was apparently supposed to be near or in Area 51. The DVDs included video and had a sound that was supposed to make people think about aliens landing, or at least imply some kind of alien invasion.
This isn't the first time that Epic has teased something like a collaboration coming to Fortnite. However, this particular marketing campaign is one of the most immersive and mysterious that it has ever done for the battle royale. While some people were able to crack the code, it's not entirely clear why Epic had gone so far to tease the arrival of aliens unless they will be arriving at the beginning of Season 7.
Why Aliens May be Coming to Fortnite
One of the most popular theories as to why aliens are coming is that such an event has to do with one of the beings that started everything in Fortnite's lore. In the lore, The Visitor created a rocket that doubled as a time machine. That rocket created a ton of rifts, and well-known characters such as the Marvel heroes and villains, G.I. Joe, or even Mistborn characters are able to enter the Fortnite map through these rifts.
It turns out these rifts are not just portals for traveling, as far as the current theory speculates. Instead, The Visitor ripped holes in space and time. One of those holes is said to show a distant alien planet, and when the aliens do arrive, there will be different things they can do. There appear to be some new mechanics coming to Fortnite along with the aliens.
One of the reasons Fortnite is so popular and lucrative is that Epic Games often brings just enough changes to the game to make it feel different with every seasonal update. This time around, there is talk that the aliens will "abduct" players and transport them across the map. Rumors also claim that when a player is transported, the abduction will serve as a way to get health back. For now, most of the theories about what the messages sent to content creators are and what the alien event might bring with it is pure speculation. However, it seems likely that players will find out exactly what the situation entails soon enough.
