Fortnite is quickly becoming a comic-book fan's paradise, since the inclusion of Deadpool back in 2020, players have seen a steady flow of new heroes and villains join the fray. While DC's contributions have slowed to a crawl recently, it still boasts a total of 21 characters in Fortnite. Marvel, on the other hand, has continued to pump out fan-favorite characters at a steady pace and now has more than doubled DC, sitting at a total of 47 characters.

With the latest Moon Knight skin, the total Marvel and DC characters have reached a total of 68 different skins (with some characters, like Batman, having multiple versions of their character included). At this pace, and with more blockbuster movies on the horizon, Fortnite is primed to hit an astonishing 100 DC and Marvel skins at some point next year, especially if DC ramps up their output again. With the recent release of Prowler in Fortnite, fans should probably expect skins related to Into The Spider-Verse and the Miles Morales version of Spider-Man.

Updated on April 22, 2022, by Brendan Paul Dick: Since the article was first published, Marvel and DC have released an additional 18 skins into Fortnite with the possibility of much more to come. Over the first year and a half of releasing comic-book-related skins, the two companies put out just over 50 in-game skins. In the year since, with only 18 skins released, the companies seem to be on pace for only half of that initial surge of releases. It's worth noting, however, that of the releases since the article was published, DC has only put out a single new skin, meaning that Marvel is still about as prolific as ever at producing Fortnite skins.

DC Comics

The Batman Who Laughs Evil DC Fortnite

Though DC has mainly focused on skins related to their silver screen endeavors, their most recent release, The Batman Who Laughs, is notable as a particularly niche character. Fans may have noticed that DC has slowed down significantly with its skin collaborations, but with the success of Matt Reeves' The Batman, players could see the arrival of more DC skins within Fortnite. If so, it's probably a safe bet to expect the inclusion of characters from the latest film such as The Riddler, Penguin, or even upcoming villains from The Batman's sequel.

DC's current in-game skins are:

  • Aquaman
  • Armored Batman Zero
  • Batman Comic Book Outfit
  • Batman Zero
  • Beast Boy
  • Black Manta
  • Bloodsport
  • Catwoman Comic Book Outfit
  • Catwoman Zero
  • Clark Kent (Superman)
  • Deathstroke
  • Green Arrow
  • Harley Quinn
  • Poison Ivy
  • Rebirth Harley Quinn
  • Rebirth Raven
  • The Batman Who Laughs
  • The Dark Knight Movie Batman
  • The Flash
  • The Joker
  • Wonder Woman

Marvel

Fortnite No Way Home Skins

For its part, Marvel has managed to shed the spotlight on a ton of underappreciated characters—the most recent release, Prowler, being an obvious example. In light of the absolutely jam-packed schedule of film and television releases planned in the MCU, there appears to be no reason to expect Marvel's output of in-game skins to slow. With the latest Doctor Strange film confirming Professor X, fans may finally see his inclusion in the game as well as other major absent characters from the X-Men franchise like Cyclops and Magneto. With Guardians of the Galaxy 3 slated for release next year, Fortnite could finally see the arrival of Drax and Mantis who are noticeably missing from the in-game Guardians roster.

Marvel's current in-game skins are:

  • Ant-Man
  • Black Panther
  • Black Widow (Snow Suit)
  • Black Widow Outfit
  • Blade
  • Cable
  • Captain America
  • Captain Marvel
  • Carnage
  • Clint Barton
  • Cuddlepool
  • Daredevil
  • Dark Phoenix
  • Deadpool
  • Doctor Doom
  • Doctor Strange
  • Domino
  • Eddie Brock
  • Gambit
  • Gamora
  • Ghost Rider
  • Green Goblin
  • Groot
  • Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk)
  • Kate Bishop
  • Loki Laufeyson
  • Mary Jane Watson
  • MJ (MCU Version)
  • Moon Knight
  • Mystique
  • Nick Fury
  • Prowler
  • Psylocke
  • Ravenpool
  • Rogue
  • Shang-Chi
  • Silver Surfer
  • Spider-Man
  • Spider-Man (No Way Home)
  • Star-Lord Outfit
  • Storm
  • Taskmaster
  • Thanos
  • Thor
  • Tony Stark (Iron Man)
  • Venom
  • Wolverine

While Marvel characters like Natalie Portman's version of Thor are a relatively safe bet for future releases, it may be high time for Fortnite to reach out to the relatively lesser-known comic book publishers like Image or Dark Horse. While Image has already made it into Fortnite in the form of The Walking Dead, they have a reservoir of untapped potential in the form of titles like Spawn or Invincible.

Fortnite is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
