Highlights

  • Fortnite players are frustrated that certain collaboration skins are exclusive to specific seasons, limiting their ability to acquire iconic characters.
  • The high number of collaboration skins from various franchises makes it difficult for players to acquire them all, as they would have to play almost every season.
  • While players are willing to pay for these limited skins, it remains uncertain if Epic Games will make them available in the future through bundles or new battle passes.

Some Fortnite players have pointed out a frustrating issue with certain collaboration skins being exclusive to their season. Fortnite has released battle passes full of cosmetic items since the battle royale was released, but these players are hoping for one key change.

Since the beginning, Fortnite has offered a variety of cosmetic items for players to equip to express themselves. As new seasons have been released, the list of items has expanded exponentially. There are over 1,000 skins that players can equip, and even more emotes, sprays, and weapon wraps. Players can acquire these items with V-bucks in the Item Shop or progress through a Battle Pass to unlock gear exclusive to that season. Highlighting that these items are limited to a specific time frame, some players are worried that they may never acquire some collab skins.

Fortnite Brings Back Stranger Things Bundle

Fortnite brings back a Stranger Things bundle containing a handful of fairly popular cosmetics inspired by the hit Netflix series.

One Reddit user is among some Fortnite players expressing grievances that specific skins are unavailable. Their post includes characters like Carnage, Darth Vader, Predator, and Wolverine. Although collaborative skins like DC Comics' Batman, Kylo Ren from Star Wars, and the Transformer Megatron can be purchased separately, others from their franchise are less accessible. Because of this, players who didn't participate in past battle passes are left without iconic characters. While this makes progressing through a Battle Pass more rewarding for players that were around, future and lapsed ones are left without the items, but willing to pay for them.

Given that Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 was dedicated to Marvel heroes, the Reddit user's post includes several comic book characters. Beyond those mentioned, it also features Deadpool, Dr. Strange, Prowler, Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, Aquaman, Raven, and Superman from Marvel and DC, Rick and Morty's Rick Sanchez, Superplastic mascot Guggimon, Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher, Doom Slayer from Doom, Transformers' Optimus Prime, Attack on Titan's Eren Jaeger, and the Mandalorian from the Star Wars universe. These could all be acquired from different seasonal battle passes, meaning gamers would have to play nearly every season to acquire them.

Given that Fortnite Season OG broke player records, it's likely that a large portion of the community is missing these collab skins. Though it's unlikely that they'll be added to the shop individually, Fortnite bundles or future battle passes may be used to bring them back in a new way. Despite the demand, it's currently unclear if Epic Games ever intends to revisit prior Battle Pass skins.
