Highlights

  • Huge changes to Fortnite's meta have been made, including nerfs to Nitro Fists. Aerial damage to players and structure damage across the board has been lessened.
  • The Grenade Launcher Turret and Machine Gun Turret received nerfs in the latest patch as well.
  • The latest patch has brought some buffs, too, including increased damage for the Tactical Assault Rifle and boosted reload speed for the Harbinger SMG.

A new Fortnite patch has nerfed several Season 3 weapons, including the popular Nitro Fists, alongside the newly added vehicle attachments such as Machine Gun and Grenade Launcher Turrets. Considering how both vehicles and Nitro Fists have become a core part of the Fortnite meta lately, the change might have a significant impact on the way the game is played.

Fortnite is always surprising fans with its high-profile collaborations and Chapter 5 Season 3 was no exception. While many were expecting a Mad Max-themed season, the Fallout partnership caught several fans off-guard. While some are still unhappy about the absence of the Mad Max collab, there are still rumors afloat that it could still make its way to Fortnite. In the meantime, a new update has made a few interesting changes to the game.

Fortnite Leak Reveals Major Cosmetic Feature for Upcoming Fall Guys Collaboration

A new Fortnite leak suggests that an update will include a major cosmetic addition that could affect many existing skins in the game.

A series of changes were rolled out recently for Fortnite as part of its latest Chapter 5 Season 3 hotfix. While several weapons were tweaked, the changes to Fortnite's Nitro Fists are by far the most talked about aspect of the patch. The Nitro Fists punch, uppercut, and air punch damage have all been reduced, affecting the damage they do to structures. When using the item against players, only the air punch damage will feel reduced.

This is not the only weapon that was nerfed, however, as both the Grenade Launcher and Machine Gun turret's damage have also been nerfed. Additionally, the Machine Gun turret's fire rate has also been reduced to make it more balanced. There have been a few buffs to improve some of the existing items in the game, too. The Nitro Splash's stack size has been increased and also gives infinite stamina while the Nitro effect is active in Fortnite.

The Tactical Assault Rifle which was unvaulted in the previous Fortnite season also gets a buff to provide an increased damage output. The Harbinger SMG, on the other hand, has a faster reload and fire rate after the update. Last but not least, the update also fixes an issue with the Boom Bolt which was causing higher-than-expected damage to structures built by players.

The Nitro Fists have been one of the most used items in the game following the release of the new Season, as many players considered them a viable option for counteracting the dominance of vehicles in the game. This is not the only nerf that the Nitro Fists have gotten in recent times, as the recharge time was increased previously. A few fans were already unhappy about that, so this new change might not go down well with the Fortnite community.
