  • Some Fortnite fans are complaining about the design similarities between the Reaper Sniper Rifle and Enforcer AR in Chapter 5.
  • The Reaper Sniper Rifle is considered to be way more desirable of the duo due to its increased damage, accuracy, and range.
  • However, distinguishing between a scopeless sniper rifle and the Enforcer AR has so far proven to be a challenge for many a player.

Some vocal Fortnite fans have recently taken to social media to bemoan Epic's weapon design choices in Chapter 5, especially as they pertain to the Reaper Sniper Rifle and Enforcer AR, which they claim look way too similar. Their newly shared grievances extend the list of Fortnite player complaints that have surfaced online since Chapter 5: Season 1 kicked off in early December 2023.

Both the Enforcer AR and Reaper Sniper Rifle were added to Fortnite as part of the game's 28.00 update that rolled out during the ongoing season. The sniper rifle is by far the more devastating weapon of the two, with its Common variant dealing 105 Damage as opposed to the Enforcer AR's 32 points per hit. The assault rifle also lacks a scope by default, although such an optical attachment can be added to the weapon using the modding feature that was introduced in Chapter 5: Season 1. Nevertheless, the Reaper is widely considered to be the more desirable of the two, not least because of its increased damage, accuracy, and range.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Update Brings Back Controversial Weapon

Fortnite reintroduces a controversial weapon from the game's past, with some users disagreeing over its effectiveness and place within Fortnite.

Despite their vastly different stats, the Reaper and Enforcer AR can be difficult to distinguish from each other. That's according to hundreds of Fortnite players who recently voted to send a thread complaining about this design shortcoming to the front page of the r/FortniteBR subreddit. The thread itself was started by Reddit user just_frosty_, who implied that a scopeless version of the Reaper is near-indistinguishable from the Enforcer AR.

Numerous players agreed with that sentiment by stating that they are having difficulties telling one from the other during Chapter 5: Season 1 matches. And although the game's UI clearly displays weapon names, situations in which there's simply no time for the player to go over individual equipment names are all too common, especially as Fortnite matches come to a close and become more hectic.

Tips for Quickly Distinguishing Between Enforcer AR and Reaper in Fortnite Chapter 5

  • The Reaper Sniper Rifle has a much longer name, which can be recognized without fully reading it at a glance.
  • The Reaper Sniper Rifle has a much longer barrel.
  • The Reaper Sniper Rifle has a more convoluted and less blocky stock.

It is unlikely that Epic will react to these complaints by redesigning either weapon while Chapter 5: Season 1 is ongoing, as doing so would be a largely unprecedented move for the developer. That notwithstanding, this influx of grievances could certainly help inform the studio's weapon designs in Chapter 5: Season 2 and onward. The 29th season of Fortnite is scheduled to kick off on March 8.

In the meantime, players who are struggling to distinguish between the Enforcer AR and Reaper in a pinch are advised to try to take notice of their barrel or name lengths, both of which are significantly longer in the sniper rifle's case. Of course, doing so is still easier said than done, especially for those who play Fortnite on smaller screens.
