Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 features a variety of new gameplay mechanics for players to enjoy, one of which is ridable wildlife. Indeed, it is now possible to ride on the backs of animals, though some fans may be unclear about exactly how that is done. Fortunately, it is quite easy to ride animals in Fortnite, and this guide will explain how players should approach this endeavor while also detailing several good locations for finding wildlife.

Fortnite: How to Ride Animals

In order to ride an animal in Fortnite, players must simply jump on top of one that is capable of being ridden. At the time of writing, Boars and Wolves are the only types of creatures that can be mounted, and fans can use meat to subdue them if they are having trouble landing on an aggressive animal. That is not mandatory, though, and indeed the primary hurdle for players to overcome is locating a Boar or Wolf.

While Boars can be found in many locations across the map, they appear in the highest density in the northwest quadrant. In particular the area between Logjam Lumberyard and Rave Cave is great place to look for Boars, as is the area just south of Rave Cave. Fortnite players that are not having any luck in those spots can also look for Boars to the north of Greasy Grove, at the Joneses, and in a pen at Shifty Shafts.

As is the case with Boars, Wolves can also be found all over the map, though the areas surrounding the Daily Bugle tend to be the best. For the uninitiated, the Daily Bugle is a named location that was added in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1, and it can be found in the northeast corner of the map. Players that do a lap around this location should ultimately encounter a Wolf, which they can mount at their leisure.

To note, one of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3's Zero Week Quests instructs players to jump on a Wolf or Boar’s back in different matches. In total, fans must ride two animals to complete this challenge, and they will receive 15,000 XP as a reward for their efforts. This is sure to be appreciated by those players that are looking to progress through the seasonal Battle Pass, which features a variety of skins, wraps, and other cosmetic items.

Fortnite is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
