Although other games have gained more attention in recent months, Fortnite remains a juggernaut and the top earning game in the industry. Its recent massive update and expansion (dubbed Fortnite Chapter 2 by developer Epic Games) has garnered a lot of attention and speculation. One recent leak, for example, shows off potential map changes that may be included in the game's upcoming season.

Fortnite does have a history of changing the player environments in-between seasons. Previously, Epic Games has removed map locations like Tomato Town and even gone so far as to erase the entire map for the Chapter 2 reboot. However, new screenshots have surfaced, with a map showing potential changes to iconic locations for Fortnite Chapter 2's second season.

According to Twitter user and regular Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR, the leak was released on 4chan and revealed both the new map for Season 2 and a potential new cinematic that will release with the update. While the screenshots are blurry, they do reveal that the map's alterations would affect Misty Meadows, Slurpy Swamp and Steamy Stacks, which have been indicated in purple and blue on the map respectively. The cinematic screenshots also feature the current battle pass skins from Season 1 of Chapter 2 in the same purple tint as Steamy Stacks.

It's important to note that this information has not been verified by Epic Games or any other reliable source. While some 4Chan leaks have turned out to be accurate, others have turned out to be entirely fabricated. Even the Twitter leaker believes that the screenshots could be fake. Responses on Twitter were also largely negative, with some stating that they hope the changes are fake, because they would be the "worst" map edits ever. However, the leaker was hesitant to outright dismiss the leak entirely, stating that "there is a chance" that the screenshots are real. Moreover, with other possible changes (like the potential removal of Pleasant Park from the map), it is entirely possible that Epic Games would begin tweaking the maps and begin world-changing events again to sow chaos across its game.

Ultimately, whether this leak is accurate or not, Fortnite is guaranteed to get a lot crazier. Epic recently revealed that the second season had been delayed in order to integrate a Chaos Physics engine, and has continued to unveil its final challenges for the first season of Fortnite Chapter 2. For both experienced and novice passengers on the Battle Bus, there is a lot more new content to come.
