Fortnite's latest update fixed a handful of bugs as well as adding some introducing some add-ons, like a new physics change and a new Harley Quinn crossover event.

Fortnite usually uses its weekly updates to fix minor bugs, launch new events, and add new cosmetics (skins, pickaxes, etc.) to the game, but this latest one added a bit more. Developer Epic Games announced that this patch was going to include a physics change as well as a Birds of Prey crossover event that should be live soon.

Fortnite Update Adds Chaos Physics and More Haley

Update 11.50 also implemented the new Chaos Physics system, which Epic Games teased in late January. According to Epic,"Fortnite will be moving to Unreal Engine’s Chaos physics system. At launch, the goal is to ensure that Fortnite still feels like Fortnite." The Unreal Physics engine should allow more realistic scenery destruction and buildings should be much more realistic when they crumble instead of just disappearing on the map. This rollout was what elongated Season 1 and delayed the release of Season 2.

Other than the groundwork for the Birds of PreyHarley Quinn crossover, there were some other changes and bug fixes included in the update:

The Launch Pad has been unvaulted in non-competitive playlists

The “Earn Gold Scavenger Medals” Rippley vs. Sludge Overtime Challenge now tracks progress properly.

Updated Feedback tool to help with issues with the new Physics system.

Resolved an issue involving some players’ completion of the “Search chests in a single match” Chaos Rising Challenge not being saved.

The Sidegrading feature is no longer present in competitive playlists. Its presence in these playlists was unintentional.

Resolved an issue involving new players on consoles having difficulty matchmaking after first linking their Epic account.

Addressed reports of iOS players activating their device’s swipe-up feature when trying to press inventory buttons.

The update brought in a lot of great changes to the game, including some needed fixes for known bugs. It also brought about the Love and War challenges and the new Chaos Physics changes. For some players, their first encounter with the system will be as part of the Birds of Prey crossover event, but there are likely more Fortnite crossover events planned for the future.

Fortnite is available for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Android, Xbox One, iOS, Microsoft Windows, and Macintosh operating systems.
