Fortnite has crossed over with dozens of games, movies, shows, and more over the past several years. Whether it's God of War, Halo, League of Legends, Street Fighter, Assassin's Creed, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, or Borderlands, if there's a major game franchise then Fortnite wants a crossover with it. There's one virally successful game that Fortnite fans have been demanding a crossover with for some time now that hasn't happened yet, though. That appears to be changing soon, though. Among Us will be coming to Fortnite.
The latest weekly update for Fortnite has brought with it a variety of new files for dataminers to dig through. Within those files is confirmation that Epic Games will soon be releasing Among Us cosmetics for its battle royale. In fact, it's available now. Two specific cosmetics have been revealed, including a Crewmate backpack and the Distraction Dance emote. While it may not be as robust of an Among Us collaboration with Fortnite as some fans may have wanted, it's better than nothing.
While some may have hoped that an Among Us collaboration would be included with the seasonal Fortnite battle pass, that doesn't appear to be the case. The Among Us cosmetics don't appear to be traditional premium cosmetics either, however, though they will come at a premium. To unlock the Among Us cosmetics, Fortnite players will have to make an "Among Us eligible purchase" through the Epic Games Store.
Eligible purchases include any Among Us-related item in the Epic Games Store. That includes the Among Us base game, which is currently available for $4.99, or any of Among Us' premium Stars currency purchases. Stars can be purchased at values including $4.99, $9.99, $24.99, or even as low as $1.99. It's confirmed that the $1.99 Stars purchase will unlock both the Crewmate Back Bling and Distraction Dance Emote in Fortnite.
To reiterate, these two Fortnite x Among Us collaboration cosmetics are in-game and available now. It may seem odd that Epic Games hasn't formally announced the collaboration or otherwise made a big deal of it, but the collaboration has been confirmed via the Epic Games Store.
Unfortunately, that means that Fortnite players on console have no straightforward method of purchasing the Among Us cosmetics. The deal is limited to users with an Epic Games Store account making an Among Us-related purchase. The deal will remain available until June 9, 2023, though, so Fortnite players should have plenty of time to set up their Epic Games Store accounts if they don't have one.
Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
