When a new Fortnite season drops, there are a lot of changes. It's common for named locations to be replaced from one season to another to fit the new theme, but that's not the only aspect of the game that changes. When a new season starts, the Battle Pass is always completely different, and some items are even vaulted to make way for new items added to shake up the gameplay.
There are also a few features that tend to stay the same, and players always expect to see them return. This time around, even though Milestone Quests are back as always, they have been modified and don't exactly work the same way as before. This guide will show players everything they need to know about Fortnite's Chapter 4 Season 3 Milestone Quests.
How Milestone Quests Work
After countless seasons of Milestone Quests functioning the exact same way, they have now been reworked for Chapter 4 Season 3. Gamers might be confused when first looking at the Milestone Quests in-game tab, especially since they will often receive the same quests after completing the previous one, but that's a result of the revamped Milestone Quest system.
For example, last season players received ten Milestone Quests right away; each quest would have 20 stages, and gamers would receive XP every time they got to a new stage and whenever they achieved a bonus goal for completing a specific number of Milestone Quests for that season.
Chapter 4 Season 3 Milestone Quests won't work this way. Milestones are now divided into three categories: Challenge Quests, Combat Quests, and Exploration Quests. Players will only have one active quest per category, and they will receive the bonus goal XP whenever they complete five quests of the same category.
Thankfully, despite the changes, Milestone Quests will continue to be a season-long feat, so gamers don't have to worry about losing this source of XP any time soon.
All Milestone Quests
As mentioned above, there are three Milestone categories, and each one appeals to a different gameplay aspect, incentivizing players to do a little bit of everything throughout Chapter 4 Season 3.
Within each category, there are a few tasks that will rotate and be chosen automatically each time the player completes a quest. It's impossible to tell what the next quest will be, and it might be the same one as before. Here are the quests that may appear for each category:
Challenge Quests
- Destroy objects (250)
- Activate or re-roll Augments (10)
- Collect items (500)
- Gain shields (500)
Combat Quests
- Damage opponents (2,000)
- Headshot opponents (25)
- Outlast opponents (250)
- Eliminate opponents (15)
Exploration Quests
- Open chests at landmarks (15)
- Open chests at named locations (25)
- Distance traveled
- Visit landmarks (10)
- Visit named locations (15)
For each stage that players complete, they will receive 2,000 XP. On top of this, every time they complete five stages of the same quest category, they will receive 30,000 XP as a bonus.
